Hi Folks, Welcome to SC Johnson Headquarters. We are a family company. The process to creating all natural products starts here.

From nature to you!

My name is Thelma Meyer. I am the quality supervisor here at Mrs. Meyers. I was asked to be your guide today and I can't wait to show you around.
Everyone ready? Let's go!

Meyers is a small company owned by SC Johnson that strives to create simply environmentally efficient products. We are rooted in goodness, and our products are made with plant derived ingredients, essential and other thoughtful formulated ingredients.

The Meyer’s Company works under the direction of Grove Collaborative, a certified B corporation that brings natural products into the home. The products listed in Meyer’s Hand Sanitizer include: Ethyl Alcohol 62% (Antibacterial) Inactive Ingredients : Water; Glycerin; Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice; Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil; Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Peel Oil; [Fragrance: linalool; geraniol; geranyl acetate; coumarin; phenethyl alcohol; p-methoxybenzyl acetate; hexyl salicylate; limonene; lavandula hybrida oil; dipropylene glycol]. All ingredients within this product can be further researched in the ingredient glossary on the Meyer’s Website.

Mrs. Meyers sources many of its products from small farms and villages in Central and South America, as well as obtaining as many products as possible from within the United States. These products are then sent to Grove Collaborative shipping facilities and warehouses all which are certified Carbon Neutral. Grove Collaborative is committed to eliminating waste especially when it comes to paper and plastics. They have created a seedling line where all profits go into reforestation and planting trees.

Since the COVID-19 pandemic, Mrs. Meyers products are assembled in SC Johnson's factories in Mt Pleasant, Wisconsin. The factory that produces Mrs. Meyers is called Waxdale and has the largest wind turbines located at a manufacturing facility in all of Wisconsin.
Hello and welcome to the factory where we produce Mrs. Meyers products!

In 2012, SC Johnson installed two 415 foot wind turbines at Waxdale. These turbines generate about 8 million kWh (kilowatt hours) of electricity each year. The wind turbines eliminate about 6,000 metric tons of carbon emissions annually.
The co-generation systems use waste methane gas from a near by public land-fill and clean burning natural gas to generate electrical energy. Waxdale is now able to generate most of its electrical energy on site.

Waxdale has a non-idling policy and uses bio-diesal for spotter trucks that move trailers to and from the warehouse. SC Johnson uses loading building software to increase truck load utilization for product shipment, which reduces overall shipments and emissions.

SC Johnson has invested greatly into Mrs. Meyers and has doubled their growth in 5 years. SC Johnson has been criticized for its one-time-use plastics which is not eco-friendly. Mrs. Meyers is currently using 25% post consumer plastic in their bottles. Now how do we distribute our amazing products, you might ask?
I'll let my good friend from distribution explain.

Hello and welcome to distribution!
The main part of my job is to make sure that all Meyer's products are safely distributed out of California to the 48 contiguous US states. Part of my job is to collaborate with Grove Collaborative to help keep the earth clean. One positive impact that occurs during the shipping process is to use the most sustainable products available. Since 2019 shipments and facilities have been carbon neutral.

The carbon footprint of e-commerce is estimated to be 17% lower than traditional brick and mortar. All of the grove packaging that is used does not contain plastic or styrofoam. Instead packaging used by the company is recyclable and includes directions on how to properly dispose of the materials.

Moving forward in the right direction to help reduce pollution in the United States, Mrs. Meyers is in collaborations with companies that have goals of becoming 100% neutral and are pledging to be plastic free by 2025.
Now let's go see what consumption is up to!

Hi, nice to see you! Let's talk consumption! Mrs. Meyer’s Lavender hand sanitizer is intended for the use of the general public, just like all hand sanitizers. The product is intended to kill 99.9% of the bacteria on your hand. The product would be seen as perceived obsolescence because of how the hand sanitizer is made. All of their products are recyclable and use consumer safe ideas behind making their product.

Many people are environmentally more conscious now and will feel the need to replace their current hand sanitizer, that may not be recyclable and have many unknown ingredients. There is also an aesthetic to the bottles made by the company that catches the eye of the consumers.
