There once were two brothers named Robbie and Mikey.  Robbie loved to sleep late while Mikey was always up early.

Mikey believed that the best adventures happened in the morning.

One morning, Mikey got up extra early.  He just knew that something fun would happen, so he tried to wake Robbie up.

“Robbie!  Robbie!   Get up!  We need to have an adventure.”

Robbie grumbled and groaned.   “It’s still dark outside.  Let me sleep.”

Mikey would not give up.   “I heard something downstairs.  We should see what it was.”

Reluctantly, Robbie climbed out of bed.  Together, they crept down the dark stairs.  Robbie did hear a sound.  “What is that?” he asked.

Mikey pulled a mini flashlight from his pajama pants pocket.  He shined it around the bottom of the stairs.  Neither of them saw anything, so they quietly moved forward, huddled together.

The light from the flashlight peaked around the couch.  Their dog, Tazzie, was chewing on a bone.

“Mystery solved,” said Robbie.  But then they heard another noise.  They followed the light through the living room and into the dining room.

Mikey spun around with the light.  “There!” he exclaimed.  “Someone forget to turn off the music on the tablet.”

Mikey went to the desk and turned it off.

A low humming sound came from the laundry room.  “What could that be?” asked Mikey.

Robbie shook his head and followed behind his brother.  In the laundry room, they saw some glowing numbers on the dryer.

“Mom must have turned the clothes back on so they would be dry,” Robbie said.

The sun was starting to rise.  The boys heard a noise in the kitchen.  Looking at each other, they nodded and went to see what it was.

Mom was in the kitchen pouring cereal.  “Hurry up, you two!  It’s time to get ready for school.”

They tried to settle down into their morning routine.  Robbie fed Tazzie, but she did not want to eat.  The bone she had was very filling.

By the time the dog was taken care of, his cereal was mushy.
