Maddy and Diamond set off on a road trip to visit family they had never met before.  Maddy had learned that most distant relatives had different last names and their first names were very strange hard to pronounce.  We weren’t out of the driveway when Diamond yelled “I have to Pee” Mom said “Hold it.”  Maddy thanked Pons and held it until we made a Pit Stop.

We first met the Lobes.

  They live on Cerebral Cortex Drive.   The street is divided into two hemispheres right and left connected by Corpus Callosum.        

    Frontal Lobe is very organized plans his every move, solves all problems, and is great at decision making. Occipital Lobe sees the best! Whereas,  Temporal Lobe hears every pin drop.    

Lastly, Parietal Lobe feels everything - pain, hot and cold, pressure, and touch.
Maddy and Diamond slept in the front bedroom with Frontal, Parietal slept just behind him Occipital slept behind him to the right, Temporal, just to the left.  The Lobes look really weird like a bunch of thick and plum spaghetti!

The Lobes cousins live close by.  They were in a major accident and Wernicke’s makes no sense with his words they’re all scrabbled up like eggs.  He can’t put them together but can speak. Poor Broca’s can’t speak or write but can understand. 

Our next family, Limbic System.  They’re our family’s emotional response to stimuli and tries to regulate our urges.  Thalamus directs the incoming information and sends it other parts of the family.  Hypothalamus controls the family’s temperature and helps control our urge to eat, our urge to fly off the handle and yell or hit other siblings.

Hippocampus is our family’s long term memory.  He remembers his 8th birthday, I’m lucky if I can two years ago! Amygdala I saved the best for last (ha ha ha) what an evil character. He feels aggression,violence,fear,and anxiety. He got sent home from school for bullying the Principal. Maddy stayed far-away!!!

Not far away live another relative the Brainstem’s.  They are lucky most function is autonomic.  You can pay attention to other things you’re interested in, like play Fortnite or watch Tik Tok all day.  The Medulla vital to living, if Medulla is severely damaged your TOAST!  She regulates breathing, your heart rate , and blood pressure and circulation. Diamond really likes her.    

Pons Diamond really likes him because he tells his jaw to chew so he can eat more brownies with ice cream and chocolate syrup YEAH !!! He also helps control sleeping, the longer the better!!! Boy, I love my BED!!!
