                      BULGARIAN TRADITIONAL GAMES                                        

                            GUARDS AND BANDITS

Guards and bandits – This is a game played with 4 or more kids. It’s something like hide and seek but not exactly. After the kids have decided who the guard/guards is/are he counts to 10 and the bandits hide. When a guard finds a bandit he stars chasing him and if he catches him he tickles him as “punishment” and then the bandit joins the guards. The game continues until there are no more bandits.

                             DRUNK CORROT

Drunk carrot – At least 3 kids are needed to play this game. This one is pretty simple, one kid is put between the rest and is the drunk carrot. All the other kids pass a ball to each other and the carrot tries to catch it if he does he wins.

Captain, captain what’s your sea – The kids choose who is the captain and all gather around him. The captain will have a blindfold on and will be spun around by one of the other kids. After that he will be asked “Captain, captain what’s your sea” and will have to answer one of the following:“quiet”- All of the kids will have to start running around the captain

 and make it sound like there is a storm.“frozen” – None of the kids can move or speak.

After the sea has been chosen the captain will have to find and touch someone and then guess who that person is.

                                   EDGE

Edge – This game is a pretty simple one. Everyone that is participating will go next to a pavement curb. Then they will take turns throwing a ball at it and trying to catch it after it bounces back without letting it fall. If they catch it it’s their turn again otherwise they give it to the next kid. There is a point system with which they determine the winner. If the ball hits the edge of the curb its usually more points but you only get the points after catching the ball. If it fails to hit the edge but still bounces off and you catch it its less points. Most of the time it’s something like first to 50 or 100 points depending on how much points they’ve decided you get per catc

Ţurca = game for children, in which another stick is hit with a stick that must be thrown as far as possible.The stick must be brought home by the opposing team. The player who starts the game is placed in a circle, from where he hits the stick mentioned above. The opposing team, if it catches the stick in flight, wins the game, if it does not catch the stick, then it has the right to three attempts to throw it in a circle, on which occasion the one in the circle must reject the stick. As in any game, the rules are flexible and are established before the game (they differ from area to area). Thus the stick can be thrown from the hand or held in the hand, and then hit with the bigger stick, or it can be put down and hit with the big stick, to be jumped from the ground and then hit to be thrown as far as possible. (in this case the stick must  be a little sharp at the ends).

                              ROMANIAN TRADITIONAL GAMES 

                       COUNTRY , COUNTRY ,WE WANT A SOLDIER

Country, country, we want a soldier! = children's game, in which the two teams take turns facing each other, consisting of players holding hands. LAPTE GROS= children's game, in which a team makes a string, consisting of a pole (neutral player), and the first player of the team that is in the "fight" is bent over, with his head in the hands of the neutral player (holding his hands together approximately in front of the arm), the next player, bent over, with his head between the legs of the first player, holding with his hands the legs of the first player or his and so on (each is sought to have as much stability as possible). The members of the other team jump on the back of the opposing team one by one, shouting "thick milk", so as to give the possibility for all team members to climb on the formed line, not to unbalance or touch the ground, and if possible to land by force and break the string formed.If the string breaks on landing, then those who are bent over remain to "beat" to continue forming the string.

How to play game: Children become a large circle. One child becomes a midwife. The child passes into the middle of the circle. The midwife keeps a person's name from his mind. When the ball is thrown into the air, he says that name. Everyone runs away by running away. When the child holds the ball, he says "istop". Then he says a color, this color must be difficult to find. Everyone tries to find and hold that color. The midwife tries to hit the child with the ball in his hand. The kid who is shot becomes the midwife. it continues.I think istop is a great and beautiful game, this game is very fun. Game: Skittles

 Materials needed for the game: A short stick 30 centimeters (steel), a long stick 70 - 80 centimeters (club)

 How to play: Skittles is an old game in Turkey. The other name of the skittles is Met.The game is played with two sticks, one of them being long and the other one being short. The short stick that always stays on the ground is supposed to be fanned by hitting the tip with the long stick. Then, players try to throw the short stick to the furthest place. The player who can't hit the short stick three times loses their turn to the opponent. The player who throws the stick the furthest wins the game. You have to these thing to your security: The ground of the game should be flat, without stones if possible. Players should be careful not to hit each other while running against the steel. The shooters must not throw the steel towards other players. The game is really exciting. You can play this great game with your friends

                          HIDE – AND – SEEK

Game; Hide and Seek

 Materials needed for the game : Seekers, a wall, a tree... 

How to play game : Hide and seek is one of the most popular children’s games worlwide. In this game players choose one of their friends as “the it” (the seeker). The seeker closes his/her eyes and counts to for example 20 at the homebas (skeers a wall, a tree etc.). Other players hide somewhere. When the seeker ends counting he/she says “Ready or not here I come !” Then, starts to look for his/her friends. If a player touches the base and says “free”, he/she is safe. If the seeker finds a player first, he/she will be the seeker on the next turn. The game goes on like this. Children can play it for long hours. They are not bored because it is very enjoyable. Do you want to play hide – and – seek with your friends? I think it's one of the best games you can play.

GAME NAME: Duck Duck Goose

HOW TO PLAY GAME: One players acts as “Goose” and other players act as “Duck”.
