Bola raz jedna krajina, v ktorej boli pekné dediny a mestá, cez ktoré viedla kľukatá cesta. Tou cestičkou sme sa dostali do nášho mesta. V našom meste bolo veľa sídlisk a uprostred  jedného bolo čarovné jazero. Bývala tam mama kačka aj s káčerom, rybky, žabky a  bocian.

Once upon a time there was a country where there were pretty villages and towns with a winding road leading through them. We took that road to our town. In our town there were many housing estates and in the middle of one was a magical lake. There was Mama Duck, also with a Father duck, fishes, frogs and a stork. 

Na jazierku bývala aj korytnačka a všetky tieto zvieratká sa kamarátili s vílou Vlnkou. Usilovná mama kačka si robila hniezdo, do ktorého zniesla vajíčka, starala sa o ne, ako najlepšie vedela. 

Turtle wandered into the pond, but all these animals were friends with the fairy Vlnka. The diligent mother duck was making a nest in which to lay her eggs, caring for them as best she could.

K hniezdu priplávali  jej najlepšie kamarátky rybky a s korytnačkou Emkou ju volali, aby sa išla pohrať. Kačička musela zohrievať svoje vajíčka, tak odmietla. Korytnačka Emka zostala veľmi smutná, a tak sa predsa len kačička rozhodla, že si chvíľu zaplávajú.

Her best friends the fish swam to the nest too. With Emka the turtle, calling her to go play. However, the duck had to warm up her eggs so she didn't want to accept the invitation. Emka the turtle was left very sad, so the duck decided to swim for a while.

Kým kačička plávala, rybka vajíčka vymaľovala, aby sa z nich vyliahli pekné kačiatka. Aj víla Vlnka chcela pomôcť, tak hniezdo kolísala až tak, že zrazu vajíčka vypadli.

While the duck swam the fish painted the eggs so that they hatched into pretty ducklings. The fairy Vlnka also wanted to help, so she rocked the nest until suddenly the eggs fell out. 

Keď sa vrátila mama kačka, hniezdo bolo prázdne. Všetci začali vajíčka hľadať, len víla Vlnka nevedela, prečo je v jazierku tak rušno. Vajíčka hľadali rybky, žabky aj korytnačka Ema pomáhala, aj bocian lietal ponad jazero a vila Vlnka iba z brehu pozorovala.

When the mother duck returned, the nest was empty. Everyone started looking for the eggs, only Fairy Vlnka didn't know why the pond was so busy. The fish were looking for the eggs, the frogs and Ema the turtle were helping, and the stork was flying over the lake, and Fairy Vlnka was just watching from the shore.
