*Build a respectful partnership with families in the interest of the child's well-being acknowledging that parents are the child's first teachers and know their children best.
*A responsibility to respectfully communicate, cooperate, and collaborate between the home and early childhood program in ways that enhance the child's development. (NAEYC, 2011)


Ethical Responsibilities to Colleagues
*Build a cooperative workplace where human dignity is respected, professional satisfaction is promoted, and positive relationships are developed and sustained.
*Establish an environment of trust, respect, confidentiality, and cooperation. Recognize efforts, address concerns, collaborate ideas, and honor diversity.
*Contribute to the program to provide the highest quality of service, professionalism, and connection to the community. (NAEYC, 2011)

Ethical Responsibilities to Community and Society
*Provide programs that meet families' diverse needs, cooperate with agencies and professions that share responsibilities to children, and assist families with access to supportive agencies and allied professionals.
*Advocate for access and development of community programs that support families in early education and social continuity.
*Share responsibility for the welfare and protection of young children. (NAEYC, 2011)
