This is Jerry.
This is Jerry.

Jerry loved to listen to the older clouds speak. They always used such big words.

Though Jerry liked to listen to the big words, he didn't know what they meant. This was fine for a little while, but something happened one day that would make him want to learn every big word he heard.

Gus! You can't imagine what has occurred. I was drifting over an embankment when I saw a vehicle topple over and down onto its back!

Oh no! Surely the vehicle requested some assistance?

Indeed, however I was much too gargantuan to help. If only I were a small cloud. Then I could squeeze underneath the vehicle and flip it back over!

Uhm. Excuse me. I am a small cloud. Maybe, I can help?

That's great! Traverse across the great golden plains. Avoid the thorny vines in the shadow lands. They're sharp and can hurt you! Next, slowly wade through the enchanting river. Finally, you'll find the vehicle over the edge of the embankment.

Jerry didn't know what to do. He understood most of the words, but a lot of them were just too big! What should he do? Where should he go?

Don't worry. Use the words around the ones you don't know. That's called using your context clues. Follow the red and blue suns. You can do it, Jerry!

With that good advice in mind, Jerry went off to save the vehicle. Whatever that was.

Jerry found the red and blue suns, and then he stopped. The big white cloud said, "Traverse across the great golden plains."
Jerry didn't know what traverse or plains was, but he did know the other words! He looked across the great golden grass.

Jerry thought to himself.
"You have to move or go to go across something. Maybe traverse means go. And these hills are great and have lots of gold grass, so maybe plains means grass."
Then he tried saying the sentence with the words he knew.
"Go across the great golden grass."
It works! Jerry traversed across the great golden plains and into the shadow lands.

Jerry stopped when he saw the thorns. What was he supposed to do again?
Avoid the thorny vines in the shadow lands.
But what does avoid mean?

Jerry had to think.
"The big cloud said that the thorny vines are sharp and could hurt me. So that means I should stay away from them. Maybe that's what avoid means."
Then Jerry tried the sentence again, but this time with his own words.
"Stay away from the thorny vines in the shadow lands."
It works again! Jerry avoided the sharp vines and headed towards the enchanted river.

Jerry arrived at the beautiful enchanted river. All he had to do was slowly wade through it. The only problem was that he didn't know what wade or enchanted meant. He decided to ask the fairy for help.

Excuse me, what will happen if I wade across this enchanted river?
This river is magic! If you slowly walk through it, you will be super strong!
