Our story starts out with Everest walking over to Sonic's house. She enters and immediately looks confused at the worried looks on Silver and Sonic's faces.

Everest: Hey guys, is something wrong?

Sonic: Well, we don't know. It's just that we haven't seen Shadow in over a week. No one knows where he is.

Everest: He's not at his house or G.U.N?

Silver: No. We checked at both places. No ones seen him.

Everest: Its not like Shadow to just vanish...

Sonic: I know.

Everest: I'm gonna go look for him. Maybe I'll find him.

Silver: Good luck...

Everest leaves and starts towards the park. She knew Shadow surprisingly better than his brothers and had a hunch why he had disappeared. Today was the day he'd lost Maria. He hadn't ever told his brothers about her. But Everest knew. And she had a feeling that she needed to find Shadow, though at the same time she felt she should leave him alone.

She finally gave in and called Shadow's name.

Everest: Shadow?

There was no response.

Everest: Shadow please respond...

Shadow: ...What do you want Everest?

Everest: Are you okay?

Shadow: Do I LOOK okay?

He didn't. He looked a mess.

Everest: No. That's why I came to find you.

Shadow: Look, that's nice of you, but I want to be alone.

Everest: Shadow...*sighs* Alright...*she turns to go*

Shadow started to speak when out of nowhere, a robot grabbed Everest and disappeared in front of his eyes.

Shadow: EVEREST! *skates to Sonic's house, panicking, and bursts through the door*

Sonic: *stunned* Shadow?!

Silver: What-

Shadow: I'll explain later okay! Some robot has Everest and I don't know where it took her!

Sonic and Silver: What?!

Shadow: *mutters* this is my fault...

Sonic: No it isn't. Look, lets find Tails. He can help us find her.

Shadow: *sighs and nods* Alright.

The three brothers rush to Tail's house, where the fox immediately pinpoints Everest's location and makes a shocking discovery.

Tails: It seems...that Mephiles has her.

Silver: Mephiles?! I thought he was dead!

Sonic: He's not obviously. We have to find him. But why would he have Everest?

Shadow was silent, causing the two to look at him.

Shadow:...Mephiles...created her.

Sonic: ...You're joking.

Shadow: *shakes his head*

Silver: That's insane.

Shadow: That's also why we need to get her back. Lets go.

The three head to the door. Tails speaks up. 

Tails: We'll communicate with your watches. I sent the coordinates to the GPS.

Brothers: Thanks Tails.

The three brothers started towards the place where hopefully, they'd find Everest.

Meanwhile, with Mephiles

Everest: *struggling* what do you want?!

Mephiles: You escaped me once. You cannot escape again.

Everest: I'm not your servant!

Mephiles: No. But you are my creation and you will do as I say.

Everest: I most certainly won't.

Mephiles: *Glares at her* You will or I'll hand Shadow back over to Eggman.

Everest: You wouldn't...

Mephiles: I would. *snaps his fingers and the robot throws her into a cage. She hits her head and blacks out*

Mephiles: She's nothing but a malfunction...

Shut up. A voice speaks from behind him.

Shadow: She isn't a malfunction. She's my best friend. *his voice was slightly shaky* Let her go if you value your life.

Sonic and Silver: *silently glaring*

Mephiles: *Rolls his eyes* I expected this.

Robot: *Grabs Shadow, who lets out a growl and struggles like a savage animal* LET ME GO! *chaos controls and punches Mephiles in the face*

Mephiles: *puts a hand slowly over his eye and snarls* You just went too far, Shadow the Hedgehog.
