Meghan had been wanting a dog her whole life. Her family had a cat, but she wanted a pet that would play with her.

One day, Meghan decided to ask her dad again.

"Hey dad, since I'm old enough now and more responsible, do you think we can get a dog now?" she asked.

Her Dad replied, "You know Meghan, I think your finally ready!"

"Can we get a dog?"

The next day, Meghan and her dad went off shopping for their new friend.

They first went to the pet store. There they bought a collar and leash, dog bed, bowl, and many other new things!

Meghan believed that they were going to pick out their dog the next morning, but next, her dad drove to the shelter.

"I'm so excited!"

There were only 2 dogs left at the shelter; a cute, fluffy, white, purebred poodle and a cream, mixed bully.

Meghan had her eyes on that bully, "I like this one!" she said to her father.

"No, that one is going to hurt someone. We're taking the purebred," her father replied.

"I like this one!"

"We're taking the purebred."

Thus, Meghan and her father came home with the purebred poodle, Fluffy.

When they arrived home, Meghan immediately wanted to play ball with her new dog.

As Meghan threw the ball, Fluffy turned her back around, and refused to retrieve the ball.

This made Meghan very sad, as this is why she wanted a dog.

"Go fetch, Fluffy!"

The next morning, Fluffy was introduced to the pet cat. 

This would be the dealbreaker on if they would keep Fluffy or not. She must get along with the cat.

Once Fluffy saw Kitty, she instantly started to bark and chase her around the entire house.

"Fluffy, no, stop!" screamed both Meghan and her father.

"Stop, Fluffy!"

"Fluffy, no!"

"Ruff!"

Meghan and her father drove to the shelter instantly. Fluffy would be returned.

They had already purchased all the necessities for a new dog and didn't want them to go to waste. The bully was still the only dog that remained.

"Can we take him please?" Meghan begged.

Her father sighed, "I guess we can try him."

"Thank you dad! I'm going to name him Lucky!" exclaimed Meghan with joy.

"Lucky!"

"I guess we can try him."
