Keep Your Eyes Peeled: Lowcountry beaches are home to a TON of beautiful wildlife to be on the look out for. Weather it's for your own protection or sightseeing, you may run into some of these on your beach journey:

Loggerhead Sea Turtle- Nesting runs from May- October so be careful where you walk!

Bottlenose Dolphins- Folly beach is home to more than 300 Atlantic bottlenose dolphins. Remember to be respectful of their space!

Sand Dollar- they can be found on all of our SC beaches. It's important to remember they are living creatures.
Alligators- A common sight in Charleston, alligators hang out in rivers, marshes, ponds, canals and on golf courses. They have been seen swimming in Folly's ocean.
Bobcats- Kiawah Island was once home to over 35 bobcats, sadly now there are less than 10.
Picking Your Spot: When you arrive it is crucial that you get a prime spot that will serve all the needs of who you are with. The earlier you get there the better chance you will have of getting the spot of your choosing.
You need to take into consideration the following:
1. When is the next tide change?
2. What is the weather forecast look like?
3. How bad will traffic be at your departure time?
4. Will we have enough space to spread out?

Coastal areas experience 2 high and 2 low tides every 24 hrs and 50 minutes. This is due to the earths rotation
The average high temperature in Charleston is 89 degrees in the Summer and the average low is 43 degrees in the winter months. Lowcountry weather is very unpredictable, so be ready for anything
Charleston visitors attributed to Folly Beach approximately $117 million in business revenues in 2015 alone

Proper Beach Setup: A best practice for setting up your area takes skill and coordination between you and your beach friends. A flawless execution of the arrival to area set up can make or break the success of your day.
A strategic order for proper set up can help move the process along:
*Park the car close to an entry and exit point
*Have the big stuff available to bring down first to claim your territory
*Spread your chairs out enough so late comers can fill in the gaps.
*Set up the beach nap spot sooner than later to prevent meltdowns.
*Turn the music to an appropriate level so you don't disrupt others.
*Get the umbrella or tent anchored in tight
*Keep the cooler in the shade to prevent spoilage
*Most importantly, sit back, relax, and enjoy the day
