Jessie had been wanting a dog for a very long time and she was finally ready to tell her parents that she wanted one. She approaches her mother and asks, 

“Hey mom, can we get a dog.” Her mother responds, 

“Well you’re going to have to work hard and know what it means to take care of an animal.” So she goes to ask her father, 

“Hey dad, can I get a dog?” Her father says, 

“When you show me and your mother that you are responsible enough to have an animal.” She did just that every day she would clean the house, wash dishes and mop the floors.

After weeks of always cleaning she decided to ask again, 

“Hey Mom and Dad, when can we get a dog?” Their response to this was to wait a few more months and have Jessie prove to them that she really was ready to have a dog. But this time instead of cleaning she decided to walk dogs in the neighborhood and even pet sit. Her parents saw her determination and her hard work but they knew she should wait until her 12th birthday. 

“But that’s two years away why do I have to wait?” 

“Well, you have proven to us that you are ready to have a dog but you don’t know what it’s like, that’s why your father and I have decided to let you foster a dog,” her mother said happily. 

“You mean it!?” 

“Yep, this will help you and us decide if we should have a dog.”
