Sarah’s so excited for her 10th birthday. Her mom is having her friends over to celebrate in 3 days. All Sarah wants for her birthday is a new pink dress, “Please oh please mom I’d love a new dress to wear for my birthday,” Sarah exclaimed! “Honey… I’m so sorry but you know we can’t afford that” Her mother replies quietly.

2 days until the birthday party. Sarah has been pondering ways to get her new dress, like, “Mom! What if I clean my room for a year?” and, “I will wash the dishes after every dinner!.” But with every new idea, her mother's answer remained the same, “Sweetie I´m so sorry I wish we could afford it”

1 day until the birthday party. A new, great idea fills Sarah’s head, she knows how to get her dress. While her mother is still sleeping she gathers all the materials she needs. Sarah's mom walks outside as she is setting up her lemonade stand. “Sarah this is an awesome idea” her mother states encouragingly. Sarah waits and waits for customers to buy some lemonade. After a few hours she walks inside really bummed. “Nobody came to my lemonade stand and now I don’t have any money for a new dress,” Sarah says hopelessly as she walks to her room.

The day of the Birthday Party! Sarah wakes up drearily, although it was the day of her 10th birthday. The whole night she tried to convince herself it would be okay. Before anyone else was awake Sarah tried on her raggedy, old dress. “Well even though I’m a bit disappointed I’m going to make the best of my party”

Sarah tells herself. Sarah springs down the stairs and screams, “Guess who’s birthday it is?” Sarah’s favorite, cinnamon rolls sit on the table for breakfast. Later, Sarah and her mom started setting up streamers and other decorations for the party. Just before people started to arrive Sarah’s mom disappeared into her room and walked out with a new, mysterious present.
Sarah’s eyes widened when she saw the wrapped gift. “WOW, what is that?” Sarah asked her mom, eager for more information. “Well why don’t you open it and see” Her mother replies. Sarah takes the box and delicately unwraps the fancy bow. She lifts the box's lid and a pink dress lays inside the box. “I know how disappointed you were about not getting your pink dress, so I stayed up all night and sewed one just for you,” her mother explains. Tears of joy cascade down her face and she gives her mom a long hug. “Thanks mom,” Sarah says happily, “this is the best present I could have asked for,” The End.
