Once there was a beautiful calm lake.
This lake had so many flowers
blooming, trees growing, and many
animals lurking around. There were
ducks, beavers, and even the snakes
came around once in a while.

Everyday the ducks and beavers swam
together, ate together, and played
games together. They all were the best
of friends.

One day there was a young platypus,
from a nearby pond, exploring the
outside world. This platypus was
named Lenny.

Lenny was an interesting creature. He
had a bill and webbed feet like a duck,
the fur and tail of a beaver, and he
was poisonous like a snake.

Can I play?
?
?
Late in the afternoon, Lenny came across the
ducks and beavers that were playing. They gave
him weird looks.
"What is that thing?", asked one of the ducks.
"Where did he come from?", said one of the
beavers.
Lenny just gave them the biggest smile he could.
Then he asked, "Can I play with you guys?"

"No, go away! What are you? There isn't even anyone
here that looks like you.", said one of the beavers.
"Well I'm a platypus. There are lots of animals that look
like me. Down by the pond were I'm from.", Lenny said
while his smile disappeared.
The beavers and ducks all walked away, leaving Lenny
all alone.

"Why were they so mean to me?", Lenny
thought to himself.
"Why do they have to judge me because
I'm different?"
So Lenny made his way back to the pond,
crying to whole way there.

On their way back to the lake the ducks and
beavers ran into the wise old goose that lived just
outside the forest. They explain what had just
happened.
"Wise old goose, what exactly is a platypus?" ,
asked one of the beavers.
"Oh a platypus is the most lovely creature. Very
interesting thing it is. Why, they are three animals
wrapped into one. You are all very similar to a
platypus you know." , he replied.
"We are!?!", they all said at the same time.

"Yes yes indeed. Well did this platypus you speak
of have a tail similar to yours beaver?", said the
goose.
"I guess so", he replied back.
"And did you see his webbed feet and bill?"
"Yes, I guess we did notice that.", said one of the
ducks.
"Well now you must see that you all are very
similar to a platypus. There's no need to treat
them differently because they look strange."
