A long time ago, in a distant village in Mexico, there lived a young girl named Laramee. Laramee was as mischievous as a kitten. She was very playful and loved to walk to her village everyday to shock all of the residents with her colorful clothing and handmade masks. Her dresses were like Mexican art; unique and memorable.

The best reactions came from her young friends in town. The little girls would "ooh and ahh" at her beautiful dresses and masks. She loved the attention it would bring because it made her feel special.

Her most beautiful dress was made of the brightest pink cloth. It had ruffles attached to her sleeves, waist, and bottom of the skirt. The ruffles were decorated with lace and a rainbow pattern of many colors. She added accessories to her hair and wore a beautiful mask.

Sometimes she would lend her dresses to her best friends, Mia, Alicia, and Donna. Her parents taught her to always share. She loved bright patterns so she would make her dresses stand out as much as she could.

One day, as she was walking to town in a beautiful dress, she came across a woman she did not recognize. She was dressed in all black with white hair and eyes so blue they felt like they pierced through Laramee's soul.
The woman said to her, "Beware young child. Someone who you love dearly will be ill-fated."

Laramee became anxious and walked back home, leaving the woman behind. Something felt wrong and the house seemed dark.

When Laramee walked into the house, she spotted her mother who looked sad.
She asked in Spanish, "Que pasa, Mama?" which means "What's wrong, Mama?"
Her mother responded with a fit of coughs. She was ill.

As the days went on, Laramee stayed home went to take care of her mother. Her outfits became less colorful. She only left the house when she needed to pick up medicine. Things seemed less colorful in the village without Laramee's fashionable dresses.
