Once there was a little girl named Sarah Breedlove. She was an incredibly special since she was the first child born in her family after the Emancipation Proclamation.

"I am not ashamed of my past; I am not ashamed of my humble beginnings."
Sarah had an oval face, a bright smile that could blind anyone, and hair that touched the sky.

Sarah loved to take care of her fluffy hair that looked like clouds. She would spend hours and hours combing and brushing until it looked just right.

"If I have accomplished anything in life, it is because I have been willing to work hard."
Sadly, Sarah’s love care for her hair came to a halt when she was orphaned at age 6, married at age 14 to Moses Williams, and then widowed at 20. But through that, she persevered.

Sarah also gave birth to a bundle of joy named A’Leia who she adored with all her heart. But it was not easy taking care of her. But through that, she preserved.

Sarah soon moved to St. Louis with her daughter in order to find work. Sarah worked as a laundress and went to night school. There she married a big talker named Charles J. Walker and changed her name to Madam C.J. Walker.
