Chapter 1: The end of a war and a beginning of one
This is a dog called Laika Lola. The year is 1946. The UN was just created to create world peace. This dog has seen millions of people die in Stalingrad in Russia. She was a smart dog. She saw her friends die from exploding their tanks in WW2. The only friend that survived was surprisingly a chimpanzee called Ham. “Hello, Ham!” said Laika. “Hi!” said Ham. That friendship would change forever! OOOH AAAH!! “Ham!”.
January 31 1961
Ham was sent into space and survived! “Ham!” said Laika! The TV said, “The chimpanzee Ham was the first chimpanzee to go to space with a close death when the pressure in the cabin dropped but he was wearing a spacesuit so he survived!”. Unfortunately, he died the next day.
25 June 1950
Before Ham died, he was sent to the USA and that was how he was in the USA. The Korean War started!
Chapter 2: The Korean War Battleground
26 November 1950-13 December 1950
Battle of Chosin Reservoir
Laika survived the battle. You may be wondering why was she in the battle. The USA heard about her braveness and courage so she sent with the army. The strength of the American army is 1,780,000. The South Koreans had 602,902, Americans=326,863, UK=14,198, Canada=8,123, Turkey=5,453, Australia=2,282, Philippines=1,496, New Zealand=1,385, Ethiopia=1,271, Greece=1,263, France=1,185, Colombia=1,068, Belgium=900, South Africa=826, Netherlands=819, India=346, Sweden=170, Japan=120, Norway=105, Denmark=100, Italy=72 and Luxembourg=44.
The battle was intense but she saved a British soldier from being shot. The bad news is that she got shot by a gun on her leg top-right.
Sorry, we might time travel back just a little.
August 4 1950-18 September 1950
Battle of Pusan Perimeter
They won! This was the first battle they won!
22 April 1951-25 April 1951
Battle of the Imjin River
The good news is that she survived the shot and they successfully removed the bullet from her leg.
25 January 1951-20 February 1951
Operation Thunderbolt
The owner of Laika was sent into a military school.
When the battle ended there were 29,000 casualties and Laika’s owner was one of the people who died.
Chapter 3: The years without an owner
21 February 1951
Laika moved to a town in Wales called Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch.
8 September 1957
“I am thinking I will move back to Moscow!” said Laika.
Five hours later…
“Wow!” said Laika. Laika had born a puppy! “I think I will call you Lola Laika Jr.!”
30 September 1957
“Landing at Moscow International Airport!” said the pilot using the speaker.
Sad thing is that since no one lived in the house for a long time, their house was demolished so they had to live on the streets but their lives will change forever and when I mean “their” I mean the puppy.
3 November 1957
The Soviet Union and the USA were in the Space Race and the Soviet Union sent Laika Lola to a rocket into space but it will not end well. *Alarm* What is happening? “The pressure in the rocket is decreasing fast!” said a scientist.
*Alarm off* “What happened?” said the same scientist. “We are checking all the security cameras and she is not moving!” said another scientist. Laika Lola died. RIP 1946-1957 Died at the age of 10.
