It was a crisp and cool morning in August when Olivia woke up.
“Olivia, it's time to get up! You don’t want to miss your first day of school!” Olivia's mom exclaimed.
“I am not feeling well! Maybe I shouldn't go to school today. I do want to get anyone else sick!” said Olivia.

“Well, what is hurting?”

“Every time I move, my stomach kinda feels like it is upside down, or I have a swarm of butterflies in my stomach!"

"DO I HAVE BUTTERFLIES IN MY STOMACH?!"

“Olivia, calm down. You are just nervous. It is okay and is normal for anyone to be nervous about the first day of school!”

Olivia’s mom finally got her to calm down and even made a special breakfast before she started her first day of second grade.
Olivia was very nervous as everyone told her that they took away everything fun in second grade. No more naps, no more snacks, and to not even think about asking for help. If you ask for help, other kids will think that you are dumb.

This made Olivia anxious and FEARED the unknown.

“Olivia, can you please eat a little faster? You still need to fix your hair!”
“Mom, if I eat too fast, I will get the hiccups. I do not want to show up to school with hiccups.”
“Olivia, you have never gotten the hiccups after eating before?”
“ Well, today could be today. I guess I should stay home just in case I get them."

“Olivia, why are you making up so many excuses to not go to your first day of school?”
“Well, a lot of older kids told me how horrible second grade is. This is the grade that we become adults. I do want to be an adult. I want to stay as a first grader. I don’t want to go to the first day of school!”

“Sweetie, I just know that the second grade is nothing like that. Second grade is where you meet new friends, you get to tell stories of your greatest adventures, you get to read more books, you will learn how to solve math problems like a genius, and you get to have the best teacher who is always there to help you.”
“Are you sure, mom?” Olivia questioned.

I am sure!
Olivia finally finished breakfast, fixed her hair, and packed her backpack with her newly bought school supplies.

Olivia still felt the butterflies flying around and hoped that the hiccups wouldn’t just magically appear. Oliva and her mom parked and walked into school.
