I'd like to begin by saying that I love my daughter.
Yes, my daughter.
She always has been and always will be my daughter.
It all started with a flower, one that my family has grown and taken care of for generations. My grandmother passed it down to my mother, who passed it down to me.
They told me the story that one Gothel girl will come one day and discover the true power of our magical flower.
My mother told me that whichever Gothel girl discovered the flower's power must use the power to always protect the flower and our family's magic.
She said there would always be people who tried to steal our magic, but it must be protected no matter what.
When I discovered it was I who held the power, I realized the flower would keep me young forever. In return, I would protect her magic at whatever cost.
When the queen became sick, my flower was stolen to heal her. I love my country and I love my queen, but I had a responsibility to my family and a promise to my mother to fulfill.
I went to the Kingdom to take back what was rightfully mine.
When I arrived, I tried searching for the flower but I was drawn to the newborn princess.
I suddenly felt the power of the Gothel family flower emerging from her, flowing through her body and out of her hair. She was silently calling to me.
I felt an overwhelming amount of love for her and I knew what I had to do. My mission was no longer to protect the flower.
My duty was to protect her. To protect Rapunzel. She was born from the power of the Gothel flower and she had Gothel magic running through her veins.
I didn't mean to cause so much pain for the King and Queen, but it was my duty to protect Rapunzel. I took her to my tower where she would be safe and I dedicated my life to caring for her.
I realized that since I could not have children myself, my family magic had brought Rapunzel to me.
