Sprout was so excited to be a tree. He heard so much about Spring. He pictured the warm weather, seeing animals run by, growing the green leaves, and having children sit under him to shade themselves from the hot sun. He had dreamed of this moment since he was just a baby seed.

When he opened his eyes, he was shocked to find no children happily playing, no green leaves, no warm weather, and no animals. He saw leaves but they were all on the ground.

The leaves weren’t green either they were red, yellow, orange, and brown. “SOMEONE STOLE SPRING” he shrieked and he was determined to get to the bottom of it.

Where is Spring?
“PSSST” he whispers to the bunny rabbit hopping along. “Excuse me Mr. Rabbit, can you tell me where spring went?”

“Well, of course, it went away with the rest of the Seasons Winter and Summer.” Replied Mr. Rabbit
“Well do you know when it’ll be back?” Said Sprout
“In no time at all”

“Perfect!” No time at all, Sprout decided to wait for Spring to come by taking a nap, for sure Spring would come back. So he sat there and waited, he dreamed of all the stories he has heard about Spring, the warm weather, the animals running by, the new green leaves, and the sounds of children playing. He couldn’t be more excited.

When he opened his eyes, he was shocked to find no children happily playing, no leaves, no warm weather, no animals, just a thick white blanket of something cold and wet. This had to be a joke, Sprout thought. Someone really stole Spring, and he was determined to get to the bottom of it.

“PSSST” whispered Sprout to the old man tree next to him. “What do you want?” remarked the grumpy old tree. “I was wondering where Spring went, who stole it?” “What do you mean who stole it? It’s wintertime now stop bothering me while I try to nap” “Well where are the leaves, and what is this cold stuff?” “It’s Winter, every Winter trees don’t have leaves, and this cold stuff is Snow. Now leave me alone”.
PSSSSSTTTTT
GO AWAY!

“Wintertime?” Surely Sprout has never heard of such a thing, he had to find out what this Winter was and who stole spring. He, like the grumpy old tree, was also tired. So he decided to take a nap before looking for Spring.

“BUZZZZZZZZZZZ BUZZZZZZZZZZZ BUZZZZZZZZZZZ” “CHHIIRRRPPP CHHIIRRRPPP CHHIIRRRPPP” What’s all that racket thought Sprout as he was woken up from his sleep. He opens his eyes to the most beautiful sight he has ever seen. SPRINGTIME
