This book is dedicated to my older cousin. She has taught me that it is okay to not be a perfect person.

It was a beautiful, perfect Monday morning just like any other day. An alarm clock starts ringing with the time showing 7:00am. “What another perfect morning to wake up to!,” Ivy said, smiling at the sun rays that are going through her room. She stretched her arms before getting out of the bed.

It was another perfect day as Ivy gets out of bed and prepares her day before the bus arrives. She had finished brushing her teeth, and she made her lunch before heading outside and getting on to the bus at 7:45am.
After Ivy gets off the bus, she meets her best friend Julie. “Good morning Julie! Ready for a new perfect day?,” Ivy asked. Julie replied, “Of course Ivy. Let’s go inside the school and greet our teacher."
The school day progresses as normal. Ivy and Julie would often help their teacher cleaning the classroom such as cleaning the whiteboard.
One Thursday morning, it was lightly raining as Ivy woke up at 7:35am. She rushes in a hurry trying quickly to get ready for school, brushing her teeth as quickly as possible.
As Ivy was making her lunch, she had noticed that she had missed her school bus as it drives away from her house at the usual time. Ivy ran outside, but the bus was already gone from her house.
It was now 8:00am and Ivy had to walk through the light rain. She was upset and she had realized she had forgotten her lunch at home.
As soon as Ivy was at the entrance of her school, she saw Julie who was holding an umbrella and covered Ivy away from the light rain. “You don’t seem to be in a good mood today Ivy. Are you okay?,” Julie asked, but Ivy responded with a sigh, “Today is not a perfect day, Julie.”
Ivy had walked past Julie without saying a word until they made it to the classroom. Ivy did not greet her teacher. Ivy was more worried about her day not being perfect anymore.
As the school day continues, it is now recess time. Ms. Rose was watching her class as they played inside recess due to the heavy rain pouring outside. As recess continued, Ivy’s classmates were getting loud to the point where Ivy had told the rest of her class to be quiet.
“Can you guys please be quiet?,” Ivy asked, “Today is not a perfect day and I want peace and quiet. You guys are being loud!” Ms. Rose was surprised at Ivy’s reaction as she noticed how quiet Ivy was throughout the day, watching her actions towards her classmates.
“There is still 10 minutes left of recess, please make sure to clean up when the time is over.” Ms. Rose said. Ms. Rose and Ivy left the classroom and into the hallway to talk.
Ivy felt nervous thinking about what they would talk about. She knew that she had broken her perfect image, but now she wished she didn’t say anything. “Ivy, what seems to be the problem?,” Ms. Rose asked, “You aren’t usually like this.”
“I’m sorry Ms. Rose,” Ivy replied, “It is just that today isn’t a perfect day. It is raining outside, I had missed the bus, and I had left my lunch at home. The other kids are also being too loud.”
