Ms. Torstrick was famous at her school for making the best most scrumptious chocolate chip cookies.  The smell of the cookies baking would fill up the entire school and make everybody crave them!

One day, she decided that she would bake her class chocolate chip cookies as a reward for their good behavior.  She had 20 students in her class, so she decided to make exactly 20 cookies.

When the batch of cookies were finished, she pulled them from oven and placed them out to cool down.  While the cookies were cooling, Ms. Torstrick went to fill up her water up at the water fountain because baking cookies is  hard work!

When Mrs. Torstrick returned to the kitchen she saw that 5 of the 20 cookies are now missing!

    "Oh no!" exclaimed Ms. Torstrick.  

    "There are only 15 cookies now, and that is not enough to feed all of my  students.  I must bake some more." she said.

And so she did.  Ms. Torstrick baked 6 more cookies.  This way, she will have one extra for herself. 

    "I must keep a closer watch on these cookies!" said Ms. Torstrick

When the cookies were done baking, Ms. Torstrick pulled them from the oven to let them cool.  She stayed in the kitchen this time to make sure they did not disappear.

As Ms. Torstrick watched the cookies closely, she suddenly heard her name over the announcements. 

   "Ms. Torstrick please come to the front office to pick up your delivery."

Ms. Torstrick almost forgot! She quickly ran to the front office to pick up the milk she ordered to dunk the cookies in.

Ms. Torstrick grabbed the milk from the office and went to put it in the refrigerator until she noticed... 8 of the cookies are missing!  Now she only has 13 cookies.

Ms. Torstrick set the milk down and tried searching for the cookies, but they were nowhere to be found.

  "This can't be happening!", she whispered to herself.  

Determined to reward her students good behavior she started mixing some more cookie batter and began  to bake yet another batch of cookies.
