Mayra was born on June 5th, 1973 in Ocotlán De Morelos Oaxaca, Mexico. Mayra was her parent's first-born daughter. She was born and raised in Oaxaca, Mexico.

Oaxaca is considered the gastronomic capital of Mexico. For example, Oaxaca's  smoky-sweet mole negro is made with 30 ingredients and takes nearly a whole day to prepare.

Full Name: Mayra Adriana Diaz Martinez

Guillermina Martinez and Miguel Angel Diaz chose Mayra's name months before she was delivered. While Mayra's mom was pregnant, Guillermina and Miguel Angel were thrilled to meet their daughter. For this reason, her parents chose to name their daughter, Mayra. The name Mayra means beloved, favorable, admirable, marvelous, and beloved girl.

Mayra's parents got married before they turned twenty. Mayra's mom was an at-home stay mom. Mayra's dad sold leather products. For instance, Miguel sold belts made out of snake and crocodile skin.

Marriage

After a few years of dating Jose, Mayra married her soulmate on September 10, 1999. Mayra and Jose met in Oaxaca, Mexico. Mayra and Jose share many things in common, such as their love for hiking and Oaxacan food.

Moving To The United States

In the year 1999, Mayra and Jose made one of the biggest decisions of their life. They decided to leave everything behind in Oaxaca, Mexico, and move to the United States of America. Mayra and Jose had several motives to move. One of the main reasons was to provide a better life for their children.
