School has always been so easy to me. I am able to do many things thanks to my teacher. He teaches me so many new things. My friends and I love going to school mainly because we get to go to recess.

Once class started the teacher had said “Today we’ll be learning something new. It's okay to struggle and I will help you if you do struggle.” I couldn’t wait. I liked learning new things. Everything was easy to me. But once I saw the worksheet I got very confused.

There was a clock with many numbers, inside and outside! I had to ask the teacher “Mr. Romero will I struggle? Is it really hard?” He smiled and said “ For you it shouldn’t be hard, but if it is I'll teach it to you well.”

Mr. Romero had so much faith in me I believed I could do it. Once he started saying everything I still felt confused and seeing others look as confused as me made me feel better. I really wanted to know it but I couldn’t. I watched as Mr. Romero went up to every kid one by one helping them, some took longer with him, some took less than a minute.

Once it was my turn to ask him questions I was ready to ask them. “Giselle, do you need any help?,” he said with a smile. “Yes, only with one thing," I said lying to him. “I keep getting the hands mixed up.” “Well the small one is the hour hand, a way to remember that is by knowing the hour hand only goes through 12 numbers only so the least numbers. While the long hand goes through all of them slowly, so more numbers, do you understand?,” he said.

Big hand many numbers small hand little numbers.

“So the small hand goes through 12 numbers as in hours and the big one goes through 60 numbers as in minutes, right?” I asked “Yes, correct,” he said. What did these numbers mean on the outside?! Why is it so difficult for me to understand?

Once lunch came, me and my friends were talking about the new worksheet that was handed out today. Most seemed to get it and I was happy the rest didn’t. Talking with them made me feel better.

The kids who didn't get it went to the teacher for help. Why couldn't I do that too? What is stopping me from asking for help? It seemed as if everyone had gotten it but me! The teacher helped everyone. He was so kind, why couldn’t I get the work.
