My name is Arianna and this is Ms. Lina's classroom. After we did our greetings, Ms. Lina said that we are going to learn about the golden rule today.

I don't know what the golden rule is, but it sure sounds familiar! I think Ms. Tracy might have talked about that last year, but I forgot.
Familiar (fuh-mil-lee-ur) - known or recognized from an earlier situation.

Ms. Lina asked us to sit in a square around our reading rug. We always sit at the reading rug when we learn about new rules.

After everyone was sitting down together on the rug, Ms. Lina said that the golden rule would be another rule that we were going to learn about and add to the classroom rules. We learned about personal space last week!

Ms. Lina said that the Golden Rule is a rule that means to treat others the way that you want to be treated. It is a rule that everyone must follow.

Treat others the way you want to be treated
We are going to explore what this rule means by having a "Day of Gold". Ms. Lina says that there will be both good and bad consequences for every action that we do today. I wonder what she means by that.

Consequence (con-see-quence)- a result or effect of an action

Ms. Lina talked to the class about different ways we could be nice. She also talked to us about actions that could be perceived as mean. For example, lending someone a pencil would be something nice that we can do.
Perceive (pur-seeve) - to understand or become aware of something.

After our talk on the rug, Ms. Lina sent the class back to our seats and we started our "Day of Gold".

James came into class a few minutes later. There was nowhere for him to sit and my classmates were not trying to make any space for him. I invited him to sit next to me.

After our learning activities, it was finally time for lunch and recess. These are my favorite parts of the day because I get to play with my friends and eat food!

I got to Lunch and realized that my friends from Mr. Simon's class were absent today. This makes me sad because I usually sit with them and now I have nowhere to sit.
