Welcome to my home! My name is Alo and I want to show you my world. Lets take a look! 

I live in South America in a rainforest ecosystem. There are rainforest in Africa, South Asia and Australia.

Where are we?

Rainforests are found in the tropics, the region between the Tropic of Cancer and the Tropic of Capricorn, just above and below the Equator. In this tropic zone the sun is very strong and shines about the same amount of time every day all year long, keeping the climate warm and stable!

Welcome to the jungle! The characteristics of a Rainforest is lot of rain, about 75 inches. It's also very humid and warm. Since it's near the the equator its around 70 to 90 degrees. Hot right?

What makes up our home

There is a number of various plants, animals and insects that make up the rainforest. 

Let's go take a closer look so you can meet some of my friends. 

Rainforest have all kinds of animals. Such as sloths, gorillas and jaguars. Animals that live here have special adaptations that help them live in the rainy warm jungle.

Meet Gary the Mountain Gorilla!

The most common animal adapation in this ecosystem  is camafloge. It's  used by rainforest wildlife to avoid detection by predators or prey. They try to blend in with the colorful plants of the rainforest.

Cool right? I wish I could do that.

Tropical rainforests have the greatest biodiversity of all other ecosystems on the planet as both sunshine and water. Plants growing here have special adaptations that allow them to grow and thrive in the tropical rainforest.
