

A note for the adults,
Children feel many things just like you and I do.
However, they are still learning to regulate their emotions, so it is important we set a good example for them. This book gives a couple ways for children to self-sooth, but the most important thing to remember is that they learn from you. Be mindful of your actions when dealing with your feelings because I promise they are watching.
Get ready to learn people of all ages.

Hey folks my name is Marco. I know you are probably have felt a lot of big emotions lately, today I am going to teach you what I do when I feel a big emotion.
Sometimes i feel scared like when I went camping for the first time. What I do when I feel scared is grab my favorite blanket, take a big deep breathe, and go sit with my mom. There are many different ways to deal with fear and none of them are wrong you just have to find what works for you.





Sometimes I feel angry. I felt angry when I was walking home and dropped all my stuff down the hill. I took three big, deep breathes and reminded myself that accidents happen. Once I calmed down, I picked up my things and continued my walk.





Sometimes I get frustrated, like when I try really hard to figure out my homework but need help. When I feel frustrated, I pause for a second and remember that it is okay I ask for help. I will go to my parents or friends and see if they can help.







Sometimes I feel sad and that is okay. When I am sad, I like to take a few moments to myself. I go to my favorite spot outside and sit under the tree. Sometimes I need to cry or just sit and be upset. Whatever I need to do I know is okay as long as I am being safe.

When I am happy, I like to dance and smile. I feel happy when I am spending time with my dad.




These are just some examples of the things I feel and how I deal with them.

Remember there is not a right and a wrong way to deal with your emotions. You have to find what works best for you. The next time you feel a big feeling, ask and adult, friend, or older sibling to help you deal with it. I'm sure they would be happy to.
