Ms.Rose has lots of different critters in her classroom.

I use Culturally Responsive Teaching and SIOP to help my students learn and feel included in my classroom.
“Culturally responsive teaching (CRT) attempts to bridge the gap between teacher and student by helping the teacher understand the cultural nuances that may cause a relationship to break down—which ultimately causes student achievement to break down as well.” - Rucker, Edutopia

Ms. Rose finds that letting her students take ownership of their learning, providing materials/activities that each critter feels comfortable working with, and making sure there are opportunities for open communication are instrumental.
“When you have to teach something or talk about it, it makes you appreciate it take ownership so that you can hopefully understand it better and recall that knowledge” (LEE County Siop. 7:20-7:35)
“Once students take ownership for their portfolio development, the continuous adding and revising of their portfolios incorporate themselves into the daily routines of the classroom” (Vacca,Vacca, & Mraz. 95)
“Discussion, both casual and directed, is also an integral part of assessment. You need to make yourself available, both before and after class, for discussions about general topics, lessons, and assignments” (Vacca,Vacca, & Mraz. 91)

Ms.Rose has her students journal, do group activities, create visual aids, and summarize what they've learned.

Doing this helps me understand what learning concepts my students are grasping, and which ones they might need extra support on.

It was so lovely having you join my classroom for a bit! We hope you have a spectacular day!
