Paul and Morgan Reinbolt were a young couple who had been married for almost ten years. After years of struggling to put themselves through university, their hard work and sacrifice had finally paid off. Paul recently became a partner at one of the most prestigious law firms in town. Morgan worked her way up to become an executive at a leading tech company. They decided that maybe it was time that they start living the good life.

The couple met with the charismatic Mr. Patrick who gave the pair a guided tour of the colossal, 800 floor apartment complex.
“Wow! Look at the view Morgan. If we were any higher I’d swear I could reach up and touch the moon. This area has really been developed the past few years. I remember there were lots of park around here. Now it’s skyscrapers as far as the eye can see.”
“Progress is inevitable Mrs. Reinbolt” Mr. Patrick interrupted. “Nature is beautiful but it doesn’t buy you a place like this or the status that comes with it” he awkwardly chuckled.

The people who worked at the apartment were incredibly polite and friendly. Yet Paul and Morgan sensed that there was something different about them. Perhaps it was the constant smiles on their faces, the fact that they rarely, if ever blinked, or that they all had the same bright green eye colour. Regardless, the Reinbolts resided in a massive luxury apartment and were living the good life. So why did they feel so empty inside?

“Paul, can you help me out? The sink has sprung a leak. There’s water everywhere!” Morgan shouted.
After struggling with the pipes, Paul was soaked as he was unable to fix the sink. He decided to call the apartment’s superintendent. But the phone kept ringing and ringing. Paul hung up and tried again. Still no answer. So he called down to the front desk but was told that the apartment had no superintendent. Confused, Paul changed his clothes and headed to the lobby to find someone who could help fix the sink.

Paul checked in with his fellow tenants but the never heard of any superintendent on site. Paul was about to head back to his apartment when he noticed a door at the end of the hallway in the lobby. A sign on the door read DO NOT ENTER but Paul ignored it as he tried to jimmy open the door. Eventually he was able to enter the room. It was dark, sparse, and was lit by a flickering lightbulb.
“Hello” Paul called out in a hushed tone. “Hmm, guess nobody’s here” he surmised. As he was leaving Paul thought he saw someone hiding in the shadows. “Who’s there?” he called out.

“You don’t work for Mr. Patrick, do you?” a disheveled man nervously mumbled. Paul shook his head no still unsure about who he was talking to.
“My name is Jason Fitzroy. I’m the former business partner of Mr. Patrick. He banished from the company after he found out about our shared Druid lineage that dates back to the 13th century. Druids were priests, magicians, and soothsayers in ancient Celtic culture. They were concerned with the natural world and it’s powers. All of them except for a darach, a dark Druid named Gonnus Patrick.”

“Gonnus wanted to harness the power of nature to rule the world. He would declare himself Ruler and have his fellow Druids pledge their loyalty to him. Gonnus had created a strange and dangerous species of plants known as ‘Creeping Charlies.’ These creatures had sharp tentacles and pointy, razor sharp teeth that protruded from their mouths. The Grove, a group of Druids, voted to banish the darach forever. A battle ensued between The Druids and Gonnus’ army of Charlies. Eventually he was exiled by The Druids, including one of my own ancestors, vowing that one day he would have his revenge.”

“Today is that day. You see, his army of Creeping Charlies has been hiding in plain sight. Everyone who works for Mr. Patrick is, in fact, one of those creatures in disguise.”
“Oh no! What do we do? My wife is on the 800th floor!” Paul panicked.
“Follow me. There’s an emergency elevator that we can take. Keep your eyes open for those big green beasts. They climb tall buildings with incredible speed.”
“Oh man! We gotta get up there now!” Paul shouted as they entered the elevator moments before some Creeping Charlies stormed the basement.

Hundreds of big green beasts began to climb all over the luxury apartments and condos throughout the city. Panic filled the Reinbolts’ building as the residents desperately tried to escape. But the Creeping Charlies were able to trap them with their tentacles before gobbling them up. Fitzroy lead the Reinbolts to a secret staircase that lead to the roof. They were safe but for how long as they were trapped on the rooftop of a massive apartment building. Where did Fitzroy disappear to? And who were these bearded dudes looking at the frightened couple?

“Are you Druids?” Paul asked, mouth wide open.
“No mate, we’re U2. Of course we’re The Druids” one of the men answered in a thick Irish accent.
“But I thought you guys were extinct?” Morgan inquired.
“Aye, you see we used our Celtic Irish magical powers to suspend ourselves between time and space waiting for this day to arrive. And now it’s up to Jason Fitzroy, distant ancestor of the original Fitzroy to defeat the darach’s kin Mr. Patrick!”
