My name is Sarah Dusharm, and I am majoring in public relations with a concentration in sports management.

I began my college education at the University of North Florida in Jacksonville on August 15, 2019.

Growing up I was always active in sports and loved the idea of going to sports events in college. However, when the time came to apply, I found myself drawn to UNF because it would mean I had to push myself to make all new friends, as I didn't know anyone from home attending this university.
I was able to easily accomplish this due to my love for socialization with others.

I adored the idea of being involved because I never really felt challenged in my courses. So, with that extra time, I got extremely involved in my sorority and became a New Student Orientation Leader.
However, the new students' favorite questions were always...
Do you ever feel like you're missing out on "bigger" school activities like football games and tailgates?
What makes you want to stay at a school like this?
The truth is, nothing made me want to stay at a school with no sports involvement. All these questions made me begin to question all the things that made me love UNF, besides the fact that I wanted to challenge myself to start fresh.
However, I had made so much progress here. Leaving over wanting more out of my school spirit and education didn't feel like enough of a reason to completely start over at a new university.

Before I knew it, football season was starting again at other universities. I saw how much fun some of my friends were having, and felt that it was something I also wanted to be part of.
However, because I was still lucky enough to be getting a college education I didn't think that was enough of a reason to leave.

The end of my freshman year rolls around, it's January 2020, and I meet my current boyfriend through my roommate. It just so happens he plays sports at a big nearby college... known as the University of Florida.
I couldn't bring myself to think that this could be a sign until March came along.

February began the discussion of sending college students home for an extended spring break, but come March, we were sent home until further notice.
Although this was an extremely uncertain time for us all, I decided to see this as an opportunity to consider the transfer process. So I spent the entire summer thinking about it.
