I dedicate this book to my future students, who are nervous about going to school for the first time. This is the beginning of their educational journey, and it is exciting, but can be scary at times. I hope you enjoy!

This is Pete.
Pete is a five year old, who is going into Kindergarten.
Pete loves sports, dogs, and his family.
Pete is an only child, and is nervous about going to school.
Come along with Pete for his journey of Kindergarten.

Today is the first day of Kindergarten for Pete.
He is so excited, but nervous.
His alarm is set for 7:00.
It's almost time to wake up Pete!!!

Pete is awake now!
He is eating pancakes for breakfast.
He is getting more excited about school and meeting new friends!
Pete is dressed and ready for school.
His mom is taking him to school this morning.
Come on Pete, you're going to be late!!!!

Pete is off to school.
His mom is talking to him about his first day of school.
She said "Pete are you excited?"
He replied "Yes mom, I can't wait!!!"
"It's going to be the best year yet" she replied.

This is Pete's Kindergarten teacher, Mrs. West.
She is very nice and welcoming, and is excited for this school year.
This is her 8th year teaching Kindergarten.

Pete meets his teacher, and is excited to start the day.
Mrs. West's paraprofessional is already starting the day with a few of the early birds.
Pete is just wondering "When is recess??"

Pete meets two new friends at recess.
He meets the young boy first who ask to play football with him.
His name is Max.
He then sees a young girl who introduces herself as Sally.
They all begin to play together and become friends.

Pete and his friends all ate lunch together at the same table.
Max had a slice of pizza, Pete and Sally both had sandwiches their mom had packed.
There was a tv in the cafeteria.
Pete shouted "Could this day get any better, I LOVE IT HERE!!!"

They were finally done with recess and lunch and it was time to start learning.
Pete noticed a girl in his class was in a wheelchair, he offered her to sit with him.
Her name is Billie Jo.
She told Pete no one had ever asked to sit with her before, Pete did not understand why, he thought her wheelchair was AWESOME!!!

Pete noticed that Billie Jo was being treated poorly by the other kids.
Pete decided to tell his teacher about this, and she addressed it to the class.
She explained to them, just because someone is in a wheelchair does not make then any less.
Mrs. West even added "I'm sure she could beat everyone in a race!"
Billy Jo thanked Pete for taking up for her, Pete has learned a lot already and it is the first day!
