Welcome to the Little Learning Center!

It's time to start the day. 

Soon all the kids will enter.

And with Miss Jenny they will play.

Hello friends! Come with me on a typical day as a teacher in the 2-year-old class!

Miss Jenny teaches the two-year-old class.

Their mommies bring them in. 

They babble their goodbyes, 

and hug Miss Jenny then. 

Did you know 2 to 3 year old toddlers can easily speak three word sentences (Stanford Medicine)? Today, the toddlers in my class made sure to tell their parents goodbye. 

Susie calls "my ball?"

Dylan cries for mom.

Abigail almost falls. 

and Miss Jenny sings a song.

At this age, Children can start asking simple questions using two word phrases (Stanford Medicine). Susie asks for her ball. 

Dylan stacks blocks. 

Susie is getting tired.

Ron plays in a box. 

And Abigail has already retired.

Sleeping babies inside!

At this age, children start playing with more than one toy at a time (CDC, 2022). They also start to understand the concept of words like "in" and "out" (Stanford Medicine).

After morning nap,  

All the children get ready to eat. 

Susie pulls the lid from her snack. 

Dylan eats chips with glee. 

Susie pulls the lid off of a container during snack time. This is an important cognitive milestone for this age (CDC, 2022)!

Miss. Jenny says, throw your trash away!

Dylan does just that.

Abigail decides to pretend play,

She plays house upon the mat.

At this age, children can follow simple directions (Developmental Milestones: 2 Year Olds). They can also play pretend (Developmental Milestones: 2 Year Olds).

The day is almost over!

It's been fun, but very long. 

Dylan wishes it went by slower. 

Abigail sorts blocks and waits for mom. 

Abigail sorts blocks by color. At this age, children can often sort by color or shape (Developmental Milestones: 2 Year Olds).
