On May 21st of 1987, Cody Johnson was born in Sebastopol, Texas which is a small Texas town.
Cody grew up in a close family which included his mother Kay, his dad Carl, and along with a sister, Carolyn and a brother, Carter.

At the age of 12 years old, Cody Johnson began his musical journey with the help of his family guiding and encouraging him. A teacher of his, in early years of school, encouraged him by telling him to start a band and enter the "Texas State Future Farmers of America Talent Contest". He came in second place at the contest.
Although Cody Johnson began making music at a young age, but he also enjoyed another passion, which was bull riding.
When he was 15 years old, he rode his first bull, and shortly made it a career. After a few years of bull-riding, Cody decided it was time for a change. The next chapter in his life was very uncertain.

Cody's next chapter in life began with working as a prison supervisor for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. Cody thought it was an ideal fit for him since his father had worked there for 32 years prior. When working there, Cody's boss encouraged him to quit this job and pursue his dream of making music and so he did just that!
When Cody Johnson officially transitioned into music in 2006, he started a band, "The Cody Johnson Band", with his dad Carl Johnson and drummer Nathan Reedy. The band released two albums, "Black and White Label" and "Live and Rocking", before Johnson’s father leaving the group. Cody Johnson and his other band members kept pursuing their music passion and released two more albums as well.
Along his musical journey, Cody Johnson met a girl named, Brandi. Brandi supported his musical career and never stopped encouraging him to follow his dreams. Brandi supported Cody's career so much, she dropped out of college and worked two jobs to support them as a married couple.
After a while came two beautiful girls into their family by the names of Clara Mae Johnson and Cori Johnson.
As Cody Johnson and his band kept pressing forward in their music career, they found nothing but success. The band kept creating music together, the more albums they created, the more success came along.
Cody Johnson won the Texas Regional Music Award for New Male Vocalist of the Year. He continued his success with his 2014 album, "Cowboy Like Me." His sixth album, "Gotta Be Me."
As Cody Johnson continued in the country music industry, there was one achievement that changed it all for him. In 2019, Johnson made history by becoming the first independent artist to completely sell out "Houston’s NRG Stadium for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo." The show sold a total of 74,000 seats! The show took place where Cody used to ride bulls, as many fans knew, the original bull riding fans were there too.
