Amy was more than excited because her birthday was in 2 days. She hopes to receive that limited edition doll released a few weeks ago. All she could do was wait for the BIG day to arrive. 

Just two days before her birthday, her favorite Tia came to visit from the valley. Amy was excited to see her but even more excited to open the gift from her. They went to have lunch that day and had a memorable time. The moment Amy had anticipated was finally happening. She received a white envelope from her Tia.

"!Que lo abra! !Que lo abra! Open the envelope!" the family shouted. Amy proceeded to open the envelope. There was $20 and a picture of them from the last time they saw each other. Amy was more than grateful and happy. She wondered if she could afford the doll she wanted.

The doll costs $46. Could Amy afford the doll she wants?

Amy was grateful for her birthday money, but a bit sad it was not the doll she wanted. There was still time until her birthday and hopefully she would get it as a present. Later that day, they all went for a walk and stopped by the ICE CREAM SHOP. Amy had her favorite three-scoops of chocolate, strawberry, and vanilla ice cream.

Amy was having a blast with her family. Suddenly, she noticed an older lady setting up her stand with homemade cookies. The sign read "$3 for six sugar cookies." Amy wanted some.

Amy walked to the lady’s stand and asked for six cookies. She handed the lady the $20 bill. How much money will she get back? $20-$3=$__?

Amy got $17 returned from the lady. Amy and her family said goodbye to her Tia and went home. It was an amazing day, but she started to wonder if she will be getting that doll for her birthday. She really hoped that someone will give her that doll, because she still needed money to afford it.
