Sage and her dad were walking through the forest one September day.  Sage had just learned in school that there were four seasons.  Her dad suggested that they came to the forest to look at the trees during each season.

Sage and her father returned to the woods in Autumn.  The leaves had started to turn their brilliant shades of red and yellow.    . her

The first day of Autumn is September 21st.  Autumn is also called Fall.  As autumn progresses, the days get shorter and the temperature gets chillier.  The leaves change color because the chlorophyll in the leaves starts to break down. 

It's now Winter in the forest, all the the leaves have fallen off the trees and it has snowed,  Sage and her dad build a snowman to keep the few non hibernating animals company

In the Winter, the days have very few hours of sunchine.  The first day of Winter is December 21st.  In the winter many animals hibernate or migrate.  The birds fly to warmer temperatures and other animals find a warm place to sleep.  The leaves also fall off the tress leaving them bare
