This book is to help someone learn about the Renaissance. The Renaissance started in Florence, Italy and spread to other countries. Part of the reason it started in Italy was because of the history Rome and the Roman Empire. Another reason it began was because Italy had become very wealthy, and the wealthy were willing to spend their money supporting artist and geniuses.

is for Art
During the Renaissance some painters made new pieces of art. One famous painting that a lot of people know is called "Mona Lisa." This art piece was created by Leonardo Da Vinci. This was not the only painting created but it is one of the most famous, other art pieces were also "Primavera" which was created by Sandro Botticelli, "The last supper" by Leonardo Da Vinci, etc.



is for Bible
The bible is a collection of religious texts or scriptures sacred in Christianity, Judaism, Samaritanism. and many other religious. The bible is an anthology originally written kin Hebrew, Aramaic, and Kione Greek. The Bible was written by Moses in fifteenth century B.C


is for Cosimo de' Medici

Cosimo da' Medici ruled the city of Florence. He was a merchant banker and politician. He had a wealthy family of bankers (House of Medici) that were part of the Medici political dynasty. He had a palace decorated by artists and architects. He was born September 27, 1389. He died August 1, 1464.


is for Dante Alighieri

Dante Alighieri was an Italian poet, philosopher and prose writer. He is best known for "The Divine Comedy." Dante was born May 21-June 20, 1265, in Florence Italy. He died September 14, 1321, in Ravenna, Italy. He had four children.


is for England

England is a country that is part of the United Kingdom. England is one of the places where the Renaissance spread to. Most historians believe that the English Renaissance began in about 1500 and extended through the first few decades of the next century. This period in English history was generally marked by increased affluence for the nation

is for Florence

Florence is famous for its most important religious building. The name of the building is "Cattedrale Di Santa Maria del Fiore." Florance is located in Central Italy. Florence is also the center of trade.

is for Galileo Galilei

Galileo Galilei was Italian astronomer, Physicist, and engineer, sometimes described as a polymath. He was born in city of Pisa then part of the Duchy of Florence.

is for Humanism

Humanism played a major role in education. Humanist's proponents or practitioners of humanism during the Renaissance believed that human beings could be dramatically changed by education.

is for Italy

Italy is where the Renaissance began. It started in Florence which is in Italy. Italy is a Country in Southern Europe.

is for Johannes Gutenberg

Johannes Gutenberg invented a printing press that used moveable metal type. Pages were printed easily after arranging the letters on a frame. He could print thousands of pages every day using his method. Johannes Gutenberg was a German inventor, printer, publisher, and goldsmith who introduced printing to Europe with his mechanical movable-type printing press.


is for Kublai Khan

Kublai Khan was someone that Marco Polo meet while traveling. Kublai was the founder of the Yuan dynasty of China and the fifth khagan-emperor of the Mongol Empire from 1260 to 1294. He was from Mongolia.


is for Leonardo Da Vinci

Leonardo was an Italian polymath of the high Renaissance who was active as a painter, draughtsman, engineer, scientist, theorist, sculptor, and architect. Leonardo was born on April 15, 1452. He died on May 2, 1519. Some of his famous paintings are the "Mona Lisa" and "The Last Supper."



is for Mona Lisa

The "Mona Lisa" is a famous painting that was painted by an Italian artist named, Leonardo Da Vinci during the Renaissance. It had been believed to have been painted between 1503 and 1506. However, Leonardo may have continued working on it late as 1517.

is for Niccolo Machiavelli

Niccolo Machiavelli, was an Italian diplomat, author, philosopher and historian who lived during the Renaissance. He is best Known for his political treatise "The Prince", written in about 1513 but not published until 1532. He was born May 3, 1469. He died June 21,1527. He was also a playwright in Florence, Itlay.

is for Ophelia

Ophelia is a character in William Shakespeare's drama Hamlet (1599-1601). She is a young noblewoman of Denmark, the daughter of Polonius, sister of Laertes and potential wife of Prince Hamlet, who, due to Hamlet's actions, ends up in a state of madness that ultimately leads to her drowning


is for Petrarch

Francesco Petrarca, commonly known as Petrarch was a scholar and poet of early Renaissance Italy, and one of the earliest humanists. Petrarch was born July 20, 1304, then died on July 19,1374. Petrarch wanted to revive Greek and Roman ideas. He saved and collected rare, precious works of literature. He is known for rediscovering letters written by Cicero, a famous Roman philosopher. He is also known as the Father of Humanism.
