EME2040 Digital Storytelling Assignment:
This story is about the time I visited Trinidad
and how different it is from America, as well as
how reflecting on memories as a child and comparing them with the knowledge that we have now makes us see things differently.

We are going to begin the story when my family and I reached Trinidad (Shagwanaz) and were on the way to my Grandparent's house. Seeing the big mountains and all the beautiful greenery had me mesmerized.
When we finally got to their house I remember looking at it and seeing how different the quality of living is compared to
how it is in America and how content people were with the standards compared to how Americans act.

The first meal I had was a traditional Trinidadian Street Food called 'Doubles', and of course, had my favorite Trini soda called 'Apple J'. I remember thinking that I wanted to stay in Trinidad forever because the food was so good.
Later on, we went more through the city, and I saw how everybody looked like me, for the first time in my life. Even though I was a foreigner I did not feel out of place as I did back home in the land I was born in.
We went to the beach and went snorkeling for
the first time. My older sister and I had so
much fun that we forgot that we were going
home in a couple of days.
We even tried a Trinidadian food called
'Bake and Shark' which is shark in a type of 'Bake', which is
like a bread. My sister and I found it kind of disgusting and thought how could people eat this? My Dad then told us that this is a very popular food that they grew up with, so it is an acquired taste for foreigners.

On the drive back home, my dad, who was born and raised
in Trinidad, started telling us about his hard childhood.
I remember thinking how could this place that he is describing
be the same Trinidad that my sister and I never want to leave. It looks perfect to us.
Later that day we went ziplining through the jungle with my aunt and
my sister. We were so carefree and just enjoying the last couple of days before we had to go back home. It was some of the most fun
I had on this trip yet.
