It was a Monday morning at Primrose School in Reunion Co in the infant room. The teachers Ms. Jasmine and Ms. Shannon were starting the morning off with bottle feeding and solid feedings for their older infants.

After the morning feedings, Ms. Shannon and Ms. Jasmine will be working on cognitive with their 8 infants in their classroom that are 6 weeks to 7 months in their classroom. We will work today to develop their cognitive milestone.

The cognitive development milestones appropriate for this age group would be:
1. Infant can opens their mouths when the bottle is brought to their mouth.
2. Infants will look at their hands.
3. Infants can reach out to grasp the toy you are showing them.
4. Infant will explore by putting things in their mouth.

The language development milestones appropriate for this age group would be:
1. Infants can turn heads when spoken too,
2. Infants can make sounds, start to discover their voices, scream, cooing. babbling.
3. Infants will imitate your sounds, blow raspberries.
4. Infants can recognize and respond to their names.

In Ms. Shannon and Jasmine's Infant classroom, they feel it's important to work on cognitive and language development milestones. These milestones are important to make sure each and every infant are developing their cognitive and language to the best of their ability with teacher support throughout the day in the classroom.

The reason why building an infants cognitive is so important and should be on the daily schedule is, Infants are learning about their environment and the world around them, their brains develop through the nurturing and responsive care they receive with their parents, and caregivers. Ms. Shannon and Ms. Jasmine will use different activities to build upon their cognitive milestones such as engaging in talking, singing, looking at pictures in a book, hide and seek with a toy, point out things in the surroundings and talk to them about them. and play hide and seek.
The reason why building an infant's language is so important and should be on the daily schedule. Language should be used constantly throughout the day in the infant room. Day in and day out language is the foundation to all social interaction with children and adults. A typical day in my infant room looks like, feedings, naps, plenty of tummy time, social interactions between the infants while on tummy time, singing, reading books, plenty of interactions througout the the day while giving bottles, and changing diapers.
