“Oliver, are you ready to go to school?” His father said.
Oliver loved going to school but did not like getting up so early.
But today was special because Oliver had big news!

“Oliver? Oliver?”
“Yes, dad!” Oliver responded. “ready for school!”
Oliver dressed himself wearing his best clothes.
Rubber boots, his green pants, and his favorite baseball shirt.
“Ok, Oliver, let’s get going, yes?” says Oliver’s dad, Ben.
Oliver grabs his lunch bag and red coat and heads to the car,
but because of his excitement, he forgets his special surprise for his class.

Oliver and Ben head into the twos classroom, where many of Oliver’s friends are playing.
“Good Morning, Oliver.” Says Ms. Maggie.
“Good Morning Ms. Maggie,” says Oliver with a high-five and the biggest smile on his face.

“Wow, Oliver, how are you feeling today?”
Oliver answers excitedly, “GOOD!” “Well, I am glad to hear you are doing good, Oliver.
Would you like to set your lunch bag down and then wash your hands?” Ms. Maggie responds.
Oliver nods, set his lunch bag on the table, and heads to the sink to wash his hands before eating.
Oliver’s father, Ben, hands Ms. Maggie Oliver’s special surprise while Oliver is washing his hands.
“He was so excited he forgot to grab the envelope. Could you hold it until he needs it, please?”
“Of Course,” says Ms. Maggie as she puts it on the shelf.
“Oliver, it’s time for me to go. I will see you after nap time. Sounds good?” Oliver’s father says to him. “Yes,” says Oliver.
Oliver gives his dad a big hug and says goodbye.

Oliver sits with Ms. Maggie and takes his containers from his bag.
“Would you like me to open your containers, Oliver?” asks Ms. Maggie.
“No, I do it,” Oliver responds.
“And what did you bring to eat this morning, Oliver?” Ms. Maggie asks?
“Let’s see.
You have
One muffin
Two apple slices
Three carrot sticks, and
Four animal crackers.”
Oliver was so excited this morning he forgot to eat his muffin at home. Still, he also forgot something else on the bench.

Oliver heads over to play with his friends once he finishes eating. He finds Ms. Maggie has set up the Match and Roll Sorter toy.
Oliver takes his time matching the shapes with their corresponding hole and color. It helps Oliver distinguish the different shapes and colors.
Ms. Maggie asks him, “What color are you holding, Oliver?”
Oliver responds, “Red.”
“Where does the red block go?” Says Ms. Maggie.
“Goes here.” Replies Oliver.
“Wow, Oliver, you put all the shapes in the sorter! Where would you like to go and explore next?” Ms. Maggie says.
