Mia was a little girl who lived in Atlanta, Georgia. Mia was going to start school tomorrow, and her parents were so excited for her. Mia, on the other hand, felt scared.

"Mañana vas para la escuela Mia (Tomorrow you are going to school Mia)," mami announced.

She and her mother had gone to the store to buy everything she needed. Mia was prepared for the big day but that didn't stop her stomach from swirling in circles like a washing machine.

The next morning, mami walked Mia to school. "Tengo que ir mami (Do I have to go mom)?," Mia implored.

"Los superheroes necesitaras obtener super poderes. Aqui podras encontrar unos (Superhero's need to gain superpowers. Here you will be able to find some)."

A superhero? Mia wanted more than anything to be a superhero! A powerful one too.

"Esta bien mami. Te amo (Okay mom. I love you) ," and with that, Mia was off alone to explore this new school on her own.

As Mia walked into the school and was greeted by a teacher. "Good Morning!"
This language was different from Mia's but she recognized it from the television at home.

Mia smiled back and held out a sheet of paper with her student information to her. "Vamonos (Let's go)! I'll take you to your classroom."
This superhero teacher looks different from me but sounds like me thought Mia to herself.

"Good morning, chicas (girls)! I am Ms. Rojo" said a beautiful voice from inside the classroom Mia was escorted to. "Buenos Dias (Good Morning). I am Mia," responded Mia.

"Take a seat! Your friends will be here shortly, Mia." Mia sat at a seat with a view of the front door. She wanted to see everyone who came in.

As students started to pour into the classroom, Mia noticed different colors, shapes, and sounds from everyone, including Ms. Rojo. She started to feel a little overwhelmed and very different.

When the school day was over, and it was time to go home, Mia ran to her mother, who was waiting for her at the front of the school where she had dropped her off.

"Como estuvo tu dia (How was your day)?," mami said as they walked home. Mia silently looked down at her shoes as she continued to walk home.

Mami slowed down until they were at a full stop. "Mi dia estuvo mal porque me senti sola. No entendia muy bien lo que decian y me veo differente que los demas. Me hacian caras feas (My day was bad because I felt alone. I did not understand what was being said to me and I look so different from everyone. They made ugly faces at me)."
