Very long ago in what's now known as Canada, Rabbit was a thief. One night he stole from the garden of an old woman, night after night this continued. Now this garden was the old woman's only source of food so, when she noticed her vegetables going missing she set up a trap.

She made a scarecrow using sticky tree sap to make the body, glass beads for eyes a pine cone for a nose and moss for hair. She set the scarecrow at the gate to her garden and waited for night time.
When night came so did Rabbit but when he saw the scarecrow he got quite scared and hid in a bush waiting for it to leave. When it did not he got more confident. Thinking it was a person he walked up to it and told it to move so he may enter the garden. It did not. Growing annoyed he hit it.
When he hit the scarecrow his paw got stuck in the sticky tree sap, so he hit it with the other paw. When that paw got stuck he kicked it which got his back legs stuck. He tried to body slam it but that only go him more stuck. Now he couldn't move so he sat there crying for help.

The old woman hearing his cries came out to the garden and found him stuck. She put him in a bag and tied it tightly shut. She ran off to find something to make sure he wouldn't steal from her anymore. Now along came Fox and he tripped over the bag.
Rabbit and Fox talked for a minute, before Rabbit came up with a plan. He knew that Fox was looking for a wife, so he told Fox that he was in the bag because the old woman was trying to get him to marry her granddaughter. Fox offered to trade places with him and let Rabbit out of the bag. Rabbit watched as Fox climbed in and tied the bag shut for him.
The old woman came back shouting with glee. When Fox heard her yelling what was actually going to happen to him, he got mad. Rabbit had lied to him. He waited for her to open the bag and when he did he ran off to find Rabbit. He found Rabbit in a field.
