    Gandhi gets thrown off the train because he is Indian. In Africa, Indian people sit in third class. Gandhi was sitting in first class. Even though he bought a ticket. This opened up his mind to how Indians are treated.

    Gandhi gathered a bunch of Indians to burn the passes they needed for travel. He burnt all the passes after he was told not to by the police. The police beat him with wooden sticks and he was still throwing passes into the fire. The police's reason for beating him was that he was burning British property.

    Gandhi goes on a train to look at the living condition of India. He finds out that India is poor. He also learns about the problems in India. One of them is farmers can't sell indigo to pay for the land they use to grow it. Everyone buys their clothes and indigo from Britain. The farmers are now starving.

    Gandhi comes up with the idea to do a strike. He renames it to a day of prayer and fasting because if he said it was a strike he would be arrested. When the day comes all of India stops working. The British don't like that so they arrest Gandhi.

     Riots break out and multiple British citizens die. The British now banned protest and gatherings. Not all Indians knew this. The British ended up killing 1600 at Ameristar. Called the Amritsar Massacre.

During a protest, the protesters end up killing the police. They killed the police because the police were beating up other protesters. Gandhi hears this and wants all protests to stop. He goes on a fast to stop the marching. The fast works and all of India stops protesting.

    When Gandhi got out of jail he when on a salt march to the sea. He would make salt when he got there. He did this because salt is symbolic of the British. The British started arresting people because it was illegal to make salt without a license.

     Gandhi decided to do a raid on the Dharasana salt works. British soldiers were blocking the entrance of the salt works. The protesters decided to try to push threw anyways. The soldiers beat whoever walked towards them. The protesters knew that and they still walked towards them.
