Katie loves watching Power Warriors every morning on TV. She loves all the characters in the show, and thinks about them all the time.

Kaden, the Blue Warrior, is her favorite. Katie's favorite color is blue.

Kaden wears simple, blue clothes. Katie tries her best to copy his outfits, but sometimes they don't look as cool as his. It's okay though, she thinks.

Kaden has the best weapon out of all the Power Warriors, a pretty silver sword that sparkles during his epic battles. Katie loves to play with her foam swords at home to join him!

Kaden has long, curly black hair too, just like Katie's. She wants to keep her hair looking just like his.

This morning, Katie rushed out of her bedroom in her blue pajamas and clambered onto the sofa. She was excited to watch the warriors fight in another epic warrior battle, with swords and shields and bows and arrows!

But when Katie switched on the TV, it was still set to the channel Katie's mom watches. Katie is not allowed to watch this show with her mom, even though sometimes she wants to. Katie's mom says that it's "not for kids."

20% OFF!
Suddenly, an ad for Stacy's interrupts the show. Katie's mom shops at this store all the time. "Come to Stacy's for our holiday sale! This week only, get 20% off dresses, skirts, bags, and shoes for every little girl to dress up this holiday season..."

Katie quickly switches the channel to Power Warriors, but keeps thinking about the ad. She looks down at her clothes. Am I supposed to be wearing dresses and skirts, she thought? She is a girl, after all. She will ask her mom about it later.

Later, Katie's mom is at work. She works on the weekends. So, Katie is looking at a magazine full of holiday presents with her dad.

Awesome sword sounds!
Blue Glow!
She finds so many fun toys, like remote-control cars with giant wheels and five different stuffed elephants that she wants. But the best toy of all is a plastic copy of Kaden's sparkling-blue Power Warrior sword. It has awesome sound effects and glows blue! She has to ask her dad for this!

But Katie's dad does not like the sword. He never liked the foam swords Katie already has. "Katie, sweetie, swords are for boys, not girls. Why don't you find some things you like on this page?" Katie's dad flips a few pages over and tries to show Katie, but she is mad. The other toys are boring to look at.

Katie looked at her foam swords lying next to the sofa. Am I supposed to like these things, she thought? She is a girl, after all. She will ask her mom about it later.
