To Mr.DiVo

Max was an 8-year-old boy, and he was in the third grade. This was his first day of the third grade and he was not in the class with any of his friends from last year.
Max was not very good with change, and the new setting makes him anxious. But he arrived the first day very early and he's the first person there.

Max sat down and gets his stuff out, and then he got out his snack and he's been bringing an apple as a snack for school for the last two years.
As kids started to arrive, he got nervous but he's trying to be brave and not let kids realize he was nervous so he might be able to make friends faster.

Max encountered a bully who makes fun of him for having a smaller fruit than him.
He got very angry and flipped a chair. The teacher sent him to the principal's office, and he was still very frustrated about the bully making fun of him because of his fruit.

"Hahaha! You have a very small fruit!! And it looks stupid," he says.
Max arrives at the principal's office after angrily stomping down the hallway.
Max apologized many times. He was very sorry he lost his temper, but he couldn't help it. The principal told him they aren't going to do anything but send him home for the day, and he can come back tomorrow.

Max's mom picked him up from school early because he got sent home. She told him that he needs to work on ignoring bullies because if you lose his temper you're the one that's going to get in trouble, not the bully. Max agreed and promises his mom that he'll try his very best to keep himself in check.

"Max you have to control yourself," she says.
They arrived home and Max's mom starts dinner and then comes and sits with Max in the living room. Max's mom was trying to think of ways to help Max control his anger. Then she finally thought of it. She remembered what her mom gave her when she was just a little girl.

"Max please come to the kitchen with me," she says.
"Okay mom," he says.
