to my sister Penelope, who is cute and adorable.

One starry night, little Poppy Fleur settled down on her little bed. Outside, rain pattered against the window of the cabin. Poppy's red-ish brown hair rustled against her shoulders as she scooted forward on her bed. A young woman, lips red as rose and long, beautiful blond hair sat down on Poppy's bed. "Mama?" Poppy said. "Can you tell me a bedtime story?" The woman looked down at Poppy's passionate face. "If you wish. How about I tell you one, no one's ever heard before?" Poppy nodded, interested. "This one is called The Rose Princess.
Soft music seemed to play as Poppy's mother began the story.
Once upon a time, there was a beautiful young Princess. That princess, she had been called the Rose princess all her life, since the day she was born. She was very beautiful, and the most special thing about her was the fact that she could make a rose bloom by touching it. In fact, she could make almost all flowers bloom by touching them. But, whenever she made just the rose flowers bloom, they held hidden magics. The Rose princess had a sister, just as beautiful as her. The sister, Dahlia, also had magic. She could blend in with her surroundings. Dahlia also had the capability of growing vines in any way she wanted. Everyone admired The two princesses for their talents. The citizens had been relieved when the daughters had learned about their magic at the age of 5. Dahlia was the older sister, and bore more duties. One night, Dahlia and the Rose princess made a discovery. Dahlia's long black hair turned blue in the moonlight. The next day, they discovered that during
sunrise and sunset, The Rose princess's hair turned gold. They informed their father, and he said that it must be a sign of their growing powers. The kingdoms' people were very happy. An evil witch had been starting to terrorize and curse things. Like the sheep, the witch flew by one day and made all the sheep disappear. And the crops, the witch stood by the side of a large farm and all the crops withered. The King had an idea. One morning, the king told the daughters that they would either protect the kingdom until the witch gave up, or force the witch away. It was for the good of the people. The two girl's agreed, not knowing what they were taking on.
One night, Dahlia was taking a midnight stroll through the woods, when, the witch found her and captured her. Without help and the sudden appearance of the witch, Dahlia had not been able to keep her away. The witch took Dahlia to an old tower. The witch then used Dahlia's powers
to her advantage. The witch took all of Dahlia's magic, and Dahlia had had that magic from birth. The witch put Dahlia under a spell, to ensure Dahlia could not escape or somehow get someone to help her. The witch put Dahlia fall into a sleep so deep it was almost death. The witch gave herself the power and went out into the village. The witches nighttime visit was unforeseen, and her power so great, that everyone attempted to flee or hide. The king was frightened and worried about where Dahlia had went, for he had gone to her bedroom and all over the castle and she was not there. The Rose princess feared facing the witch alone. She faced her, and only lasted slightly longer then Dahlia had. The witch captured her as well. Luckily, she had been in the middle of the capital town, with people screaming and trying to hide. When the King and all the castle employees found the witch capturing the Rose princess, they were furious. They grabbed pitchforks, kitchen tools, anything they could find, and rushed to
their beloved Rose princess. Of course, the battle could not be won against the witch's magic, but it was enough to distract her. But when they caught the witch's attention, it was as if too late. The witch had already took most of the Rose princess's magic and put her in the same sleep as her sister. Luckily, the witch had put the Rose princess to sleep first and hadn't completely taken all of her magic. But, alas, she was under a spell, and unable to do anything. She wasn't even aware of that, because, well, she was sleeping. The only thing the employees and king could do were flee. They left poor Dahlia cursed in the tower and the Rose princess cursed on the ground of the abandoned town. Their was no one to save the dear Princesses, and they lay there. They lay their for many years, though, not one hundred, as in sleeping beauty. The witch had not finished her sleeping spell, either, for she had been in an eager hurry. So, the spell only lasted thirty years. And the princesses did not age.
I believe you would think that a near death sleeping spell would have lasted much longer, even if not all of it had been completed. But, that sleeping spell took much attention and all of the power to fully accomplish it. The witch did not know of this, so she had not done all of it. And when the town was abandoned, all the witch cared about was the power she had gained. So she had went off to do more terrible things. But, thirty years later, the Rose princess opened her eyes. It took a while, but she remembered the night she had been spelled by the witch. Determined to clean up her past, she set off to find her sister, knowing that she had disappeared because of the witch. She hiked through a forest for many days, facing many dangers. But, she reached the tower her sister was held in. She found it strange to find a seeming frozen, looming tower somewhere in the forest. So she used the little power she had left to make a ladder of rose flowers. That was the only
