Map of Antarctica.
South Pole
Introduction
Antarctica is located in the southern hemisphere in theAntarctic Circle. The Antarctic Circle is located at the bottom of
the Earth. Antarctica is cold and freezing. It has a polar climate
which is colder than -50°c. Antarctica will have at least one
blizzard a month. Antarctica is not a tundra. It is too cold to be a
tundra! In fact, Antarctica is actually, a cold desert biome because
it is dry and it never rains. It is mostly ice and no water.Page 4

There are a lot of aquatic animals in Antarctica
because Antarctica is surrounded by the
Antarctic Ocean. One of the most common
animals is the penguin. However, only two
species of penguins which are the Emperor and
the Adelie penguins live in Antarctica. They have
blubber (a layer of fat) to keep them warm as well
as thick water proof feathers to help them survive
the cold climate. Penguins have pointy beaks
because they mostly eat fish and have special hairs
in their throat called bristles to help them swallow
their prey and push them down their throat. The
other features the penguins have are their webbed
feet to keep them from sliding on the ice and wings to
swim fast.
Aquatic Animals
In fact, most of the Antarctic animals are aquatic.
Baby fish are most in danger because the climate is
too cold.Another common animal is fish. However, adult
fish have strong blubber but baby fish have thin blubber. In
order to survive, all Antarctic animals have blubber because
the climate can go lower than -50°c.

There are also many bird species that can
survive in the climate of Antarctica. One of them
is the skua birds. Skua birds don't appear very
often because skua birds eat penguins that are still
in their eggs but penguins lay their eggs once a
year. Interestingly, it doesn't eat penguin chicks that
is born from the egg. Skua birds are great spies. They
can spy the colony of penguins and their nests with
their incredible eye sight. Wandering albatross are
another special type of birds that also eats penguins. It
wanders around the Antarctic and that's how it got it's
name. It is mostly found at the sea side. Wandering
albatross eats penguin chicks that have hatched from the
eggs instead of one in the egg.

Independency
The fish depends on the coral reef to camouflage.
Coral reef depends on their self to grow their own
prey in side them self. Sea weed depends on the
sun for energy. There are a lot of Independence in
Antarctica. Independency includes food chains too.
Plankton depends on the sun shine to get energy.
The plankton will get eaten by small fish that will get
eaten by bigger fish that gets eaten by penguin which
gets eaten by seals, shark and killer whale and other
birds. The animal that has the most predators are fish.
Fish's predators are Antarctic birds, penguins, shark
killer whale and other fish.

explanation.
