Once upon a time, there was a tadpole named
Double Spot. Now, he was no ordinary tadpole.
He was a very large bull frog tadpole. Well, at
least to a humans eye, he was very large, but to
his fellow tadpoles, he was quite small, (or you
could say, slow to develop).
One afternoon, he was swimming in his pond,
but not swimming for fun. He was being teased
by two other tadpoles because his legs hadn't
grown out yet. He was trying to swim away from
them.

Little did any of the tadpoles know that their afternoon
chase was going to change their lives. While Double Spot
was swimming away, he saw big splashes up ahead. Most
tadpoles would be afraid but nothing scared Double Spot
more than the big and strong Trey and the speedy Red
Legs. He thought it was worth the risk to try to lose them
in the splashes. He raced forward and the others followed.
It all happened so fast. One could not even tell you how it
all went down exactly. All the three tadpoles knew is that
they were scooped in a net, then dropped into an orange
bucket, then spent a long time swishing and bouncing into
each other. Just what Double Spot wanted!. Well, no, not
really!

The swooshing and bouncing came to a halt. Double
Spot, Trey and Red Legs just looked at each other. At
this point, they realized that they weren't enemies
anymore. They couldn't be. They had no idea what
was in store for them and they were all each other
had. They must now be a team.
The orange bucket started to move and the swooshing
and bouncing started again. Double Spot looked up
and he saw a tall man with glasses and two boys
holding the bucket and looking in.

Double Spot, Trey and Red Legs didn't know what to
think of these funny looking people, but they did
know that they were thankful to have each other.
Suddenly, there was a swish and a scoop, Trey was
gone! Another swish and a scoop, Red Legs was gone!
Finally, a swish and a scoop, Double Spot was
dropped into a teeny tiny tank with nothing but blue
rocks and his two, well now, friends. So he thought.

So, here the three tadpoles were; Trey, Red Legs and
Double Spot, all confined to a small space. Rather than
becoming a team, Trey and Red Legs started to make fun
of Double Spot and his very small legs. Double Spot
figured that they were just trying to pass time and they will
stop soon. However, Trey and Red Legs didn't see why
they should stop what they were doing. Not even in these
hard times did the two tadpoles change. Interestingly,
Double Spot did change. He developed feelings of hope
and dreams. He hoped to become a bigger and stronger
tadpole. He dreamed of a life with friendships, love and
peace.

Time passed in the little fish tank. Double Spot tried to
keep his distance from Trey and Red Legs.
The next 9 days were surely an adjustment for the three
tadpoles. Then, finally, on the 9th day of struggling to
avoid the other two and escaping in his dreams, Double
Spot got scooped up again in the net. Splash! He found
himself in new and much bigger surroundings. Splash!
Red Legs plops in. Splash again! Trey plopped in behind
them.
They had been moved to a bigger and much better tank! It
had big rocks with caves and plants, but most importantly,
great new hiding places for Double Spot

Days had passed. Double Spot felt his body changing. It felt
weird, but good. His legs were getting longer and his tail was
getting shorter. He could maneuver around the tank much
better and he felt more confident. However, at the same
time, he saw that Trey had been changing even faster! He
had two arms, two legs and a very small tail. He was also
spending a lot of time swimming up to the top of the tank and
back down again. Red Legs was changing fast too! He had
one arm and two legs. His tail seemed to be getting shorter
as well. However, he looked a little uncomfortable having just
one arm.
The social situation didn't change much. As confident as
Double Spot was with his own growth, he continued to get
teased by Trey and Red Legs for always being at the bottom of
the tank, or hanging on a plant and, of course, not having any
arms. Double Spot, physically, felt wonderful, but felt sad on
the inside. He did not have friends and he was not living in a
world of kindness.

It wasn't until day 24 in the tank that things changed. Trey was
getting faster and faster. Red Legs couldn't even keep up with him.
He had just developed his second arm and was trying to get used to
his new body. Double Spot still didn't have arms, but his legs were
growing much longer.
Trey noticed that he was the most developed, quick, and able to stick
his head out of the water and take breathes. He started to become a
little over confident and became boastful. He was not just boasting to
Double Spot, but he was also behaving badly towards Red Legs too.
This upset Red Legs.
That afternoon, Trey stood tall up on the rocks, looked down on both
Red Legs and Double Spot and said, "I am the king of the castle and
your the dirty rascals!". This made Red Legs feel bad. He was very
sad that his friend was being mean to him. Red Legs turned to
Double Spot and said, "I am sorry if I ever made you feel as bad as I
feel right now". Double Spot was yearning for friendship, so he
forgave Red Legs and said, "yes, I know how you are feeling and it
feels terrible. Red Legs, can we be friends?"

Red Legs was so happy that he jumped up and down and
all around the tank. He said yes to Double Spot and also
told Double Spot that all that time that he was being mean,
made him feel really bad. He said he felt bad about hurting
Double Spot's feelings, which also made him feel bad about
himself.
Red Legs did another giant leap and said that he is the
happiest he has ever felt at that moment. He was happy
because he finally told Double Spot his true feelings AND
they were now friends!

Four days had passed. They all continued to grow. Trey looked like a
frog with the tiniest tail. Red Legs was very close behind him with a
slightly longer tail. Double Spot was getting very close to growing his
arms.
Life in the tank got better for Double Spot because he had Red Legs on
his side. Red Legs and Trey were still friends, but Trey interacted with
him less because Red Legs stuck up for Double Spot.
Double Spot was feeling faster and stronger every day, however, he was
very frustrated because it was taking forever for him to grow his front
legs.
Trey and Red Legs were spending a lot of time on the top of a new
structure that, a very kind, woman put in the tank. She was really so
kind, thoughtful and super hip! The structure allowed them to stick
their heads out of the water. Double Spot, so badly, wanted to join
them. He also felt that he and Trey could, actually, become friends if he
could just grow faster to catch up with him. This would allow him to
spend more time with Trey.
