This halloween story is dedicated to my best friend Wren. We have shared so many fun experiences throughout our lives having sleepovers and sharing spooky stories with each other.

The night before Halloween, Julie and Annie planned on having the best sleepover of the year.

After school ended for the day, Julie went home to pack her things and then she began her journey to Annie's house.

On her way to Annie's house, Julie ran into a black cat walking down the street. In school the previous day, Julie and Annie learned how sometimes people think that black cats are bad luck.

Julie did not believe this, she thought that all cats were good luck. She picked up the black cat and took him over to Annie's house.

Annie was so excited about the cat that she begged her mom and dad to let her keep it. Annie's mom and dad said yes, and the two girls were so happy!

Annie and Julie took the black cat up to Annie's room and started thinking of names for him.

"Should we name him Luna?" asked Julie.
"I think I like the name Shadow the best! He is black like a shadow so it's perfect!" exclaimed Annie.
Annie and Julie were able to agree on the name Shadow for Annie's new pet.

Throughout the night, the girls stuffed their faces full with all of their favorite candy and snacks, while watching bunches and bunches of scary Halloween movies.

Just as Julie and Annie were about to fall asleep, they heard a loud and roaring meow coming from Shadow. The girls froze in terror. They did not know what to do next.

MEOWWWWWW
Annie slowly lifted the blankets off of her and began to get out of bed before she got too scared and did not move.

"MEOWWWW" said Shadow once again.
"What are we supposed to do?" Annie frantically asked.
"Make him stop!" exclaimed Julie.

MEOWWWWWW
Since the girls were too scared to get out of bed and see what was going on with Shadow alone, they decided to do it together.

"Shadow?" asked Julie, "Are you okay?"
The room was silent. Julie and Annie were beginning to think that they should not have kept the scary black cat.
