Digestive System Project- Storybook 2023

meet bella the           burger.

Bella the burger wants to take a trip through the body.

In order for bella to complete the trip, Bella has to pass through different   parts of the body.  

Here is Bella's trip plan.

Bella is going to start her trip at the mouth(1). She will then go to the pharynx(2), followed by the esophagus(3), and into the stomach(4). From there, she will go through the small intestine(5), where nutrients will be absorbed into the body. Any waste that wasn't absorbed will go to the large intestine(6), into the rectum(7), and leave the trip through the anus(8).

To start the process, bella gets broken down into smaller pieces by  the mouth.

Yum, this burger tastes so good!

The mouth

The function of the mouth is to take in and   break down food so it moves through your       esophagus easier.

The Esophagus

Next up, Bella goes through the esophagus. The function of the esophagus is to transport food entering the mouth through the throat and into the stomach.

The Stomach

Now, Bella is in the stomach. The function of the stomach is to hold food and mix it with acid and enzymes that continue to break down the food.

The Small Intestine

Bella has now moved into the small intestines, where the nutrients from her will get absorbed into the body. The function of the small intestine is to help further digest food coming from the stomach.

The Large Intestine

Anything that wasn't absorbed in the small intestine moves to the large intestine. The function of the large intestine is to absorb water and salts from the material that has not been digested as food, and get rid of any waste products left over.
