Once upon a time there was Princess Dory who lived at the bottom of the sea - She was the queen of the waters and lived happily because the waters of the sea were clear and clean. She enjoyed excellent health like all the other inhabitants of the sea. sea

Dory lived in a beautiful castle. One day, when she returned from a walk, she noticed that her castle had become horrible! It was filthy!!!! It was covered in plastic and black drops of oil!!!!

But...what is happening?

Dory felt very sad: she no longer had her fantastic castle! Human beings had not respected its sea which had become dirty and polluted!!!!

We don't want to live in such a dirty sea! We get sick!

Chapter 2

How bad is it in the castle? What dirt!

There was a lot of rubbish around the castle. The beautiful shells were filled with dirt, they were cloudy and not clean.

Dead fish lay around the castle. The color of the castle changed and lost its luster.

The princess was saddened and disappointed by the behavior of the people.

At that moment Skippy the swordsman passed by looking sick and had no energy to move

As soon as Dory saw him she asked him "what happened?" "You are sick;"he replied that he could not breathe because of the many garbage and pollution of the sea.

"We have to do something," they said.

Hello, I'm Daisy the sea turtle facing serious threat from sea pollution.

Plastic waste is one of the main threats to me and marine spacies.My family and I often confuse plastic bags with jellyfish, our favourite delicacy, as they look and smell the same.

By consuming, plastic waste, our digestive system clogs up, creating a false sense of satiety, leading to us gradually to death.

Chapter 5

Aris and Marina were at home and decided to take a walk on the beach.

But when they went to the beach, they saw that it was full of rubbish.

What happened here?

Who threw out all this garbage?

Then Princess Dory appeared from the sea to ask for help.

Can you help me; The sea, my home, is full of garbage!

Chapter 6

4th Primary School of Tyrnavos Christina Koutalou

4th grade

Νext morning, Aris and Marina, on the way to school were discussing about the pollution they had seen the day before on the beach. They were really worried and sad!

I don't understand why people do all these bad things!

The two children told their teacher what had happened.

Dear students today we will talk about sea pollution.

Sea pollution is one of the main threats to marine organisms.
The Mediterranean is, according to research, one of the most polluted seas in Europe. Thousands of tons of waste end up in the Mediterranean sea every year, injuring or even killing iconic marine species.

Some of them are protected and threatened, such as Kareta kareta sea turtles, the Monachus monachus seal and the Sperm whale, one of the 9 marine mammals living in the Mediterranean sea!

Unfortunately, uncontrolled fishing and tourism development on the beaches, plastic pollution and passing ships threaten their tiny population.

Next morning ...

The lesson on sea pollution continues..

Dear students, does any of you know what microplastics are?

Due to solar radiation, wind and waves, plastic breaks down into smaller pieces. Pieces whose size is less than 5mm are known as microplastics.
Because of their small size, their ingestion, by fish and other animals higher up the food chain, has serious implications for human health. Μicroplastics are everywhere...

Microplastics usually end up in the sea and finally in sea creatures' stomachs as well as ours!

So look what's really happening...

Wow! This must stop!

Aris and Marina and their friends realized that, what is happening at the bottom of the sea, is very bad for the planet! So they decided to take action and save the planet and also help Princess Dory who lived at the bottom of the sea.

Chapter 8

Primary School of Damasi

They collected the trash and the beach was cleaned. Dory's palace was cleaned and she was very happy!

Suddenly a black river flowed into the sea and changed its color from blue to dark gray. The children were worried and went to see where it was coming from. They noticed that it was from a river into which a factory was dumping its waste.

After informing Dory, the children all went together to find the owner of the factory and tell him about the problems his waste is creating. He listened to them carefully and promised to put filters to stop the pollution of the sea.

Indeed, after a few days the sea became blue again and Dory and the children were again happy to play and enjoy the sea.
