Word Count: 617
Millie is upset because the other girls won't include her because of her pink tail. She tries to hide it but what will happen when the girls find out about it?

Tomorrow was Millie The Mermaid’s first day of school. She was so excited she could hardly sleep!

That morning Millie fixed fabulous french toast, her favorite food, for breakfast. Then she packed her bag and swam off.

When she entered the school she looked around and admired her beautiful new building. She could not have been happier!

As she entered the classroom she noticed there was a big group of mermaids, all with purple tails.

As she entered the group she changed her voice and the way she acted because the other girls were doing the same thing.

She tried to talk with the other mermaids but they ignored her and started laughing. “Look, she has a pink tail,” said someone. “How weird,” said another.

Millie looked at her tail and realized it was so pink! It was as pink as the sunset in the sky. Millie was embarrassed as she swam away.

When she got home she went to talk to her mom. “Mom, no one likes me because of my pink tail,” she said.

“I’m so sorry,” replied her mom, “But remember you are as pretty as a pearl in the sea. Never let anyone tell you otherwise. You should always be yourself.”

“Let me make something for you. What would you like?” asked her mom. So Millie asked her mother to make her muffins, so her mom did just that.

After eating the muffins, Millie thought about what she was going to do the next day and she came up with a brilliant idea!

She was going to paint her tail purple. She had forgotten all about what her mom had said. She grabbed some coins and swam to the paint shop. “One can of purple paint please,” she asked the cashier.

The next day before school she painted her tail and swam off. As soon as she got to school she came to the group of purple tailed mermaids and said, “Look, my tail changed colors!”

The girls were shocked, but as soon as she said that, the paint washed off because they were in the ocean. The paint slipped right off. She was so embarrassed.

When she got home she had another plan, this time she was going to wear a purple skirt to school.

The next day she went up to the purple tailed mermaid and said “Look my tail changed colors.”

The girls were shocked. But then in PE when doing cartwheels her skirt flew off. She was so embarrassed.
